How Does It Compare with Other JLab Gauss Meters?

ModelRanges and readoutOther listed details

Choose this meter for flux-density readings in gauss on two ranges; the Gauss and Tesla Meter suits labs that also want tesla readings and PC data logging.

What Is the Digital Gauss Meter Used For?

A Hall probe contains a thin semiconductor element; when a current flows through it in a magnetic field, a Hall voltage proportional to the flux density appears across it, and the meter displays this as gauss. In B.Sc. and engineering physics practicals it measures the field between the pole pieces of an electromagnet at different coil currents, for example before a Hall effect experiment, and shows how the field of a bar magnet falls with distance. Hold the flat face of the probe perpendicular to the field and keep it still; do not bend the probe or press it against pole pieces.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Mains supply — the meter works on 220 V, 50 Hz; mention your local supply in the enquiry.
  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
  • Complete experiment — add an electromagnet or a Hall effect set to the same enquiry if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between gauss and tesla?
Both are units of magnetic flux density: 1 tesla equals 10,000 gauss. This meter reads in gauss, so its 20K gauss range corresponds to 2 tesla.

Is the Hall probe included?
Yes, the meter is listed complete with its Hall probe.

Can it be used for the Hall effect experiment?
Yes, it measures the field of the electromagnet used in that experiment. JLab also lists a complete Hall Effect Experiment set, linked below, if you need the crystal, current supply and electromagnet as well.

Who manufactures this gauss meter?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, and quotes for it directly as the manufacturer.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of physics lab instruments and digital measuring instruments in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This meter comes from JLab’s own works, not from a trader, so colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct. The company is registered under CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Chad in Central Africa, Switzerland in Western Europe, Ethiopia in East Africa, El Salvador in Central America and the Caribbean and Serbia in Southern Europe. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
