How Does It Compare with Other JLab pH Meters?
| Model | Readings | Listed features | Form |
|---|---|---|---|
| This meter (EL-DMI-1042) | pH 0–14; mV 0 to ±199.9 mV | 0.01 pH resolution; ±1% accuracy; temperature compensation; electrode included | Bench meter, 11 x 7 x 4½ in |
| Microprocessor pH Meter | pH, mV and temperature | Alphanumeric LCD; auto buffer recognition; 3-point calibration; sample storage; printer attachment | Microprocessor based |
| Digital Pocket pH Meter | pH 0–14 only | 0.1 pH resolution; two-point calibration | Pocket, pen type |
Choose this meter for routine bench work that needs pH to two decimal places plus a millivolt mode for redox and ion-selective electrodes. The microprocessor model adds temperature display, buffer recognition and data storage, and the pocket meter suits quick field checks at lower resolution.
What Is the Digital pH and mV Meter Used For?
A glass pH electrode produces a small voltage that changes with the acidity of the solution; the meter converts this to a pH reading and, in mV mode, shows the electrode potential itself. That makes one instrument useful for checking the pH of solutions, buffers, water samples and soil extracts, for quality checks in pharmaceutical, pesticide and agricultural laboratories, and, in mV mode, for redox measurements, potentiometric titrations and ion-selective electrode work. Temperature compensation corrects the reading for the solution temperature, which matters because the electrode response changes with temperature. It is used in B.Sc. and M.Sc. chemistry practicals, analytical and soil-testing labs, and water-quality work.
Calibrate with fresh standard buffer solutions before each session, rinse the electrode with distilled water between samples, and never let the glass bulb dry out — store it wet as the electrode instructions direct and replace it when the response becomes slow.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Your mains supply voltage, as the listing does not state the power input.
- Spare pH electrodes, or any specific ion electrodes you plan to use, and standard buffer solutions.
Frequently Asked Questions
What are the measuring ranges?
pH 0 to 14 with 0.01 pH resolution, and millivolts from 0 to ±199.9 mV. The listed accuracy is ±1%.
Is an electrode supplied?
Yes, the meter comes complete with an electrode. Spare or specific ion electrodes can be added to the same enquiry.
Does it compensate for temperature?
Yes, temperature compensation of the solution is provided, so readings can be corrected for samples that are warmer or cooler than the buffers.
What is the mV mode used for?
It reads the electrode potential directly, which is needed for redox (ORP) measurements, potentiometric titrations and ionic activity with specific electrodes.
Who manufactures this meter?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of analytical and digital measuring instruments in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The meter is made at JLab’s own works rather than sourced through a trader, so laboratories, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct; each unit is checked by eye before dispatch, and repeat orders and spare electrodes are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Yemen in the Middle East, Chad in Central Africa, Liberia in West Africa, Mexico in North America and Rwanda in East Africa.
