Photo Electric Colorimeter Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-DMI-1039
Jlab Export is a leading Photo Electric Colorimeter Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Photo Electric Colorimeter (code EL-DMI-1039) is a mains-operated filter colorimeter for analytical laboratories that reads transmittance from 0 to 100 and optical density from 0 to 2 on an analogue meter. It uses a sensitive photovoltaic cell, a lamp fed from a stabilised power supply, a slow-motion diaphragm, eight coloured filters and 12 mm diameter test tubes as sample holders. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Colorimeters?
| Model | Readout | Filters | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|
| This colorimeter (EL-DMI-1039) | Analogue meter: transmittance 0–100, optical density 0–2 | Eight coloured filters | Photovoltaic cell; stabilised lamp supply; slow-motion diaphragm; 12 mm test tubes; 220 V, 50 Hz |
| Digital Colorimeter | Digital display | 8 glass filters | Microprocessor based |
| Digital Photoelectric Colorimeter | Optical density or % transmission, read directly | 8 filters from 400 to 700 nm | Photocell sensor; tungsten lamp; 230 V, 50 Hz |
Choose this model when an analogue meter and test-tube sample holders suit your teaching lab and routine work. The two digital colorimeters suit buyers who prefer a numerical display; the photoelectric model also lists the wavelength of each filter.
What Is the Photo Electric Colorimeter Used For?
A colorimeter measures how much light of a chosen colour a solution absorbs. By the Beer–Lambert law, the optical density (absorbance) of a dilute coloured solution is proportional to its concentration, so readings from a set of standards give a calibration graph from which unknown samples are worked out. The filter is chosen to match the colour the solution absorbs most strongly, which is usually the complementary colour of the solution itself. Typical work includes estimating metal ions, phosphate or nitrite with colour-forming reagents, following reaction rates, and B.Sc. and M.Sc. chemistry, biochemistry and environmental-science practicals.
Set the meter with a blank tube of solvent before each set of readings, using the slow-motion diaphragm for fine adjustment, then measure the samples with the same filter. Use matched, clean and scratch-free 12 mm tubes, wipe the outside dry, and keep the tube the same way round each time.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Your mains supply, as the listed rating is 220 V, 50 Hz.
- Spare 12 mm test tubes for samples and blanks, if you want them quoted.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the colorimeter measure?
Transmittance from 0 to 100 and optical density from 0 to 2, read on an analogue meter. Optical density is the quantity normally plotted against concentration.
How many filters are supplied?
Eight coloured filters. The listing does not give their wavelengths, so ask JLab if your method needs a particular filter.
What sample holder does it use?
Test tubes of 12 mm diameter. Use the same size of tube for the blank and the samples so the light path stays the same.
How is it different from JLab’s digital colorimeters?
This model reads on an analogue meter. The Digital Colorimeter is microprocessor based with a digital display and 8 glass filters, and the Digital Photoelectric Colorimeter lists filters from 400 to 700 nm with a direct readout of optical density or % transmission.
Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab), at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an analytical and scientific instrument manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The colorimeter is built at JLab’s own works and is not a traded item, so colleges, analytical labs, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct; each instrument is checked visually before dispatch and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example France in Western Europe, Kyrgyzstan in Central Asia, Guyana in South America, Chad in Central Africa and Morocco in North Africa.
