Experimentation with Transistor Characteristics

Product Code : EL-BE-10500
Jlab Export is a leading Experimentation with Transistor Characteristics Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Experimentation with Transistor Characteristics (code EL-BE-10500) is a stand-alone transistor characteristics kit for basic electronics labs, used by students to plot the characteristics of NPN and PNP transistors in different configurations and to understand their regions of operation. A DC power supply, a voltmeter and an ammeter are built in. JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, builds the trainer in Ambala, India.

What Is the Transistor Characteristics Trainer Used For?

A bipolar transistor is described by families of curves rather than by a single figure, and this trainer is built for drawing them. Students record voltage and current readings and plot three curves: the input characteristic (input current against input voltage), the output characteristic (output current against output voltage at a fixed input current) and the current transfer characteristic (output current against input current at a fixed output voltage). From the slopes of these curves they work out the input resistance, the output resistance and the current gain, which links the device theory of a basic electronics course to values measured on a real transistor.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the number of trainers for your laboratory, quoting product code EL-BE-10500.
  • Companion trainers — the diode, op-amp and transistor analyzer units linked below are separate items and can be quoted on the same enquiry.
  • Tender and packing details — a tender reference, if there is one, and any packing or labelling instructions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which transistor configurations can be studied?
All three common configurations for both transistor types: NPN and PNP transistors each in common emitter, common base and common collector, which makes six separate studies on one unit.

What are the regions of operation of a transistor?
Cut-off, active and saturation. In cut-off both junctions are reverse-biased and almost no collector current flows; in the active region the base-emitter junction is forward-biased and the collector-base junction reverse-biased, so the collector current follows the base current, which is the condition for amplification; in saturation both junctions are forward-biased and the transistor behaves like a closed switch. The output characteristics show where each region lies.

What does current gain mean in each configuration?
It depends on which current is the input. In common base it is alpha, the change in collector current divided by the change in emitter current, which is just under one; in common emitter it is beta, the change in collector current divided by the change in base current, usually tens to hundreds; in common collector it is the emitter current gain, roughly beta plus one.

How does it differ from the Transistor Analyzer?
This trainer is for plotting characteristic curves and working out transistor parameters from them. The Transistor Analyzer provides static tests for NPN and PNP transistors — short-circuit, open-circuit, ICBO/ICEO and DC hFE — and has an on-board curve tracer that shows the IC versus VCE family of curves on an oscilloscope.

What information is needed for an export quotation?
The quantity, the destination country and port or city, and your preferred delivery terms, for example FOB or CIF. JLab prepares the export quotation from these details.

Who manufactures this trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronics trainers and laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This trainer is produced at JLab’s own works instead of being bought in from a trader, so colleges, schools, dealers and importers deal with the maker directly, and repeat orders are handled by the same team. The company is registered under CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Lithuania in Northern Europe, Lesotho in Southern Africa, Japan in East Asia, Benin in West Africa and Libya in North Africa. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
