Experimentation with Diodes

Product Code : EL-BE-10499
Jlab Export is a leading Experimentation with Diodes Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Experimentation with Diodes (code EL-BE-10499) is a stand-alone trainer for basic electronics laboratories on which students plot the forward and reverse characteristics of different diodes and see the regions of operation of each. It is a complete system for studying diode characteristics, with different test points brought out on the panel. JLab makes the trainer at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with the Training Board for Diode and Zener Diode?

ModelDiodesSupply and meters
This trainer (EL-BE-10499)Silicon diode, Zener diode and LEDInbuilt DC power supply; inbuilt voltmeter and ammeter with digital display
Training Board for Diode and Zener DiodeGermanium diode and Zener diode, mounted behind the panelVariable regulated DC supply; digital voltmeter and current meter

Choose by the diodes each trainer carries: silicon, Zener and light-emitting diodes on this one, a germanium diode and a Zener diode on the Training Board for Diode and Zener Diode.

What Is Experimentation with Diodes Used For?

It lets students plot diode characteristics easily and understand the different regions of diode operation, the forward-conduction, reverse-blocking and breakdown regions, by comparing three very different devices on the same trainer. Readings of voltage and current come from the built-in meters, so each V-I curve can be drawn point by point without wiring up separate instruments.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Model — this trainer or the Training Board for Diode and Zener Diode.
  • Quantity — the number of trainers.
  • Follow-on trainers — the rectifier, band-gap and transistor trainers below are separate items that can join the enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the forward and reverse characteristics show?
In the forward direction a diode passes very little current until the knee (cut-in) voltage is reached, after which the current rises steeply. In the reverse direction only a tiny leakage current flows until the breakdown voltage, which an ordinary diode should never reach in use.

Why is the Zener diode's reverse curve different?
A Zener diode is made to break down at a defined reverse voltage and then hold that voltage nearly constant over a wide range of current. That flat reverse region is what makes it useful as a voltage regulator.

Why does an LED need a higher forward voltage than a silicon diode?
LEDs are made from semiconductors with a wider band gap than silicon, so more voltage is needed before they conduct, and the energy released as current flows comes out as light. The forward voltage also changes with the colour of the LED.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, the country and port or city of delivery, your preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference if one applies.

Who manufactures Experimentation with Diodes?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, manufactures it in Ambala, Haryana, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of semiconductor and electronics trainers among other educational laboratory equipment, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The trainer is made in JLab's own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy straight from the factory, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders go back to the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example the USA in North America, Malta in Southern Europe, Zambia in East Africa, Congo in Central Africa and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
