What Is the Gear Pack Used For?
Each gear type in the pack shows a different way of passing motion from one part of a machine to another. Bevel gears are cone-shaped and carry drive between shafts set at an angle; a crown gear has its teeth on the face of the wheel, so a small pinion meshing with it turns the motion through a right angle; a worm gear gives a large speed reduction in a small space; and a rack turns the rotation of a pinion into straight-line movement.
