Intermediate Spectrometer

Product Code : EL-ELA-5464
Jlab Export is a leading Intermediate Spectrometer Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Intermediate Spectrometer (code EL-ELA-5464) is an optical spectrometer for prism and grating experiments in college and university physics labs, built on a cast iron base with levelling screws and bright plated fittings. Its protected circle carries brass and stainless steel scales read by two opposite verniers, and the telescope has a Ramsden eyepiece with a cross wire. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Intermediate Spectrometer Used For?

A spectrometer measures the angles through which light is bent by a prism or spread by a diffraction grating. The collimator sends a parallel beam through the prism or grating, the telescope is turned to pick up each spectral line on its cross wire, and the angle is read from the circle. With it, students find the angle of a prism and its angle of minimum deviation, calculate the refractive index of the prism glass, and use a grating to measure the wavelengths of the lines from a sodium or mercury lamp — core experiments in BSc and engineering optics practicals.

Reading the two opposite verniers at each telescope position and averaging them reduces the error from any slight off-centring of the circle, which is why the arrangement is standard on teaching spectrometers. The cast iron base gives a steady platform, the levelling screws let the instrument be set level on the bench, and the polished wooden box protects the optics between practical sessions.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Size — the instrument is listed in sizes from 15 cm to 17.5 cm; state the size you need.
  • Quantity — the number of spectrometers for your optics benches.
  • Light sources and optical parts — sodium vapour lamps, glass prisms and diffraction gratings are separate items that can be quoted on the same enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Intermediate Spectrometer used for?
For measuring angles of refraction and diffraction: the angle of a prism, the angle of minimum deviation, the refractive index of the prism glass and, with a grating, the wavelengths of spectral lines.

Why does it have two opposite verniers?
Reading both verniers and averaging the two values reduces the error caused if the circle is not perfectly centred on its axis.

What eyepiece does the telescope have?
A Ramsden eyepiece fitted with a cross wire, used to set the telescope accurately on each line.

What sizes are available?
JLab lists the Intermediate Spectrometer in sizes from 15 cm to 17.5 cm; mention the size you want when you enquire.

What is the circle made of?
It is a protected circle with a brass scale and a stainless steel scale, mounted with bright plated fittings on the cast iron base.

How is it different from a direct vision spectroscope?
A direct vision spectroscope is held up to a light source to view its spectrum, while this spectrometer measures the angles of spectral lines from a divided circle, so quantities such as refractive index and wavelength can be calculated.

What information is needed for an export quotation?
Send the quantity and size, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you prefer (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling instructions and, for tenders, the tender reference.

Who manufactures the Intermediate Spectrometer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an optics lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The spectrometer is made at JLab’s own works, not bought from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers buy factory-direct; each instrument is visually inspected before it goes into its wooden box, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. The company holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 (manufacturing enterprise) and Importer-Exporter Code 3317504552. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Samoa in Oceania, Moldova in Eastern Europe, Tanzania in East Africa, Thailand in Southeast Asia and Tajikistan in Central Asia. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
