Jlab Export is a leading Ohms Meter Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Ohms Meter (code EL-ARTVMCT-1241) is a panel-mounting moving-coil ohmmeter on a Bakelite plate that measures resistance from a single 1.5 V cell, used for resistance and continuity checks in physics and electrical labs, ITI workshops and test benches. It has a zero adjustment and is made to the range required, such as 0–100 Ω, 0–250 Ω, 0–500 Ω or 0–1000 Ω. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Resistance Meters?
| Model | Measures | Power | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|---|
| This ohms meter (EL-ARTVMCT-1241) | 0–100 Ω up to 0–1000 Ω, or any range required | One 1.5 V pen cell | Panel mounting on a Bakelite plate; zero adjustment; ±5% of indicated value at centre scale |
| Low Ohms Meter | 10–400 mΩ and 1–40 Ω | Single 1.5 V cell | 90 mm scale; probe supplied |
| Insulation Tester | Insulation resistance up to 200 MΩ | Not listed | Transistorized, compact and portable; four test-voltage types |
Choose this meter for everyday resistance readings of resistors, coils and elements in the ohms-to-kilohm region, especially where the meter is to be built into a panel. Very low resistances such as contacts and solder joints call for the low ohms meter, and insulation checks need the insulation tester.
What Is the Ohms Meter Used For?
An ohmmeter passes a small current from its cell through the resistance under test, and the moving-coil meter shows the result directly in ohms. Students use it to check resistor values before Ohm’s law and series–parallel experiments, to measure coils and heater elements, and to test continuity in wiring, fuses and switches. Because it is a panel-mounting meter on a Bakelite plate, it can also be fitted into a test bench, trainer board or demonstration panel in ITI electrician and electronics trades and in polytechnic labs.
Before a set of readings, use the zero adjustment to bring the pointer to its reference mark (on most moving-coil ohmmeters this is done with the test leads joined); this compensates for the cell voltage falling with use. An ohmmeter scale is not linear, and readings are most accurate near the middle of the scale, which is why the accuracy is quoted at centre scale. Always measure with the circuit switched off, and take the cell out if the meter will not be used for a long time.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Range — one of the listed ranges (0–100, 0–250, 0–500 or 0–1000 Ω) or the range you need.
- Cell and test leads — the listing does not say whether they are included; ask JLab to state this in the quotation.
- Panel fitting — if you will build the meter into a panel, ask for the mounting details with the quotation.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is an ohms meter used for?
Measuring resistance directly in ohms — checking resistors, coils and heating elements, and testing the continuity of wiring, fuses and switches.
Which ranges are available?
The listed ranges are 0–100 Ω, 0–250 Ω, 0–500 Ω and 0–1000 Ω, and the meter can be made to any other range you require. Name the range in your enquiry.
How accurate is it?
±5% of the indicated value at centre scale. Readings far from the centre of an ohmmeter scale are less precise, so choose a range that puts your usual values near the middle.
What battery does it use?
One 1.5 V pen cell, of the type named in the listing or an equivalent. Ask JLab whether the cell is included with your order.
How big and heavy is it?
Approximately 100 mm x 100 mm x 60 mm, and approximately 700 g.
How is it different from the Low Ohms Meter?
The low ohms meter is listed for 10–400 mΩ and 1–40 Ω, for loose contacts and dry soldering. This meter covers higher values, from 0–100 Ω up to 0–1000 Ω or a range made to order.
Who manufactures this ohms meter?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maker of electrical meters and physics lab instruments in India, incorporated in 2017, with its address on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The ohms meter is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought in from a trader, so schools, colleges, training institutes, dealers and importers buy straight from the manufacturer, and ranges made to order and repeat supplies are arranged with the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Slovakia in Eastern Europe, Sudan in North Africa, Colombia in South America, Afghanistan in South Asia and Belgium in Western Europe. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
