What Is the Pancreas Anatomy Model Used For?
The pancreas lies across the back of the abdomen behind the stomach. Its head sits in the C-shaped curve of the duodenum, and the neck, body and tail run towards the spleen. The main pancreatic duct runs along the gland and usually joins the common bile duct at the hepatopancreatic ampulla, which opens into the duodenum under the control of the sphincter of Oddi. Students use an anatomy model to learn these relations before dissection, clinical postings or examinations.
The gland has two jobs. Its exocrine acini make pancreatic juice, which contains trypsinogen, chymotrypsinogen, amylase, lipase and nucleases, plus bicarbonate that neutralises acid from the stomach. Scattered among them, the islets of Langerhans form the endocrine part: alpha cells release glucagon and beta cells release insulin, the hormones that hold blood glucose in balance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the model show pancreatitis or pancreatic tumours?
The original listing names pancreatitis and pancreatic tumours within a longer list of liver and bile-duct disorders, but it does not say the model depicts any of them. Ask JLab for a description and photograph before ordering.
How does it differ from the Pancreas and Duodenum Model?
That model is listed as an anatomical model of the human pancreas with the duodenum, and the Liver Pancreas and Duodenum Model also shows the liver, spleen and blood vessels. This listing does not describe its structures, size or material, so compare photographs.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of anatomy and biology teaching models and laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This model is produced in JLab’s own works, not sourced from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order from the manufacturer and repeat orders come from the same place. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Chad in Central Africa, Zimbabwe in East Africa, Maldives in South Asia, Uruguay in South America and Luxembourg in Western Europe. The JLab lab tenders page covers tender enquiries.
