Product Code : EL-OED-1062
Jlab Export is a leading Planck's Constant Apparatus using Solar Cell Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Planck’s Constant Apparatus using Solar Cell (code EL-OED-1062) is a physics practical set for determining the stopping potential with a mounted solar cell, the measurement behind a teaching-lab value of Planck’s constant. It comprises a low-voltage DC power supply with a voltmeter and a micro-ammeter, a lamp house, the mounted solar cell, a set of coloured filters and connection leads. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with JLab’s Vacuum Photocell Version?
| Model | Light detector | Supply and meters | Other listed parts |
|---|---|---|---|
| This apparatus (EL-OED-1062) | Mounted solar cell | Low-voltage DC supply with voltmeter and micro-ammeter | Lamp house, set of coloured filters, connection leads |
| Planck's Constant Apparatus | Photo cell (vacuum type) mounted in housing | Stabilised low-voltage supply with moving coil meters | Lamp house, colour filter set, double-rod optical bench, connection leads |
Choose this set when you want the stopping-potential experiment with a solid-state solar cell instead of a glass vacuum photocell. The vacuum-cell version is listed with a double-rod optical bench; this listing does not mention one, so add a bench to your enquiry if you need it.
What Is the Planck’s Constant Apparatus Used For?
Light of a single colour is selected with one of the filters and shone on the cell, and the opposing (retarding) voltage from the supply is raised until the micro-ammeter reading falls to zero; that voltage is taken as the stopping potential for that colour. Repeating with each filter and plotting stopping potential against the frequency of the light gives a straight line. Following Einstein’s photoelectric equation, the slope of that line is taken as Planck’s constant divided by the electron charge, so multiplying the slope by the electron charge gives Planck’s constant. This is a standard modern-physics practical for B.Sc. physics and engineering physics labs.
Work in a darkened room so only filtered light reaches the cell, and keep the filters free of fingerprints.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 sets.
- Your mains supply voltage for the power supply and lamp house.
- Whether you also need an optical bench or a spare mounted solar cell, each listed separately.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the apparatus include?
A low-voltage DC power supply with a voltmeter and micro-ammeter, a lamp house, a mounted solar cell, a set of coloured filters and connection leads.
How is Planck’s constant found from the readings?
Plot the stopping potential for each filter against the frequency of its light. The slope of the straight line is Planck’s constant divided by the electron charge, so multiply the slope by the electron charge.
Who manufactures this apparatus?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of modern-physics and opto-electronics apparatus, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This set is produced in the company’s own works, not resold from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers buy straight from the factory, and each unit gets a visual check before it is packed. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example the USA in North America, Angola in Central Africa, Poland in Eastern Europe, Sudan in North Africa and Uganda in East Africa.
