LED Characteristics Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India

LED Characteristics Apparatus

Product Code : EL-OED-1055
Jlab Export is a leading LED Characteristics Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

LED Characteristics Apparatus (code EL-OED-1055) is a bench unit for studying the V–I characteristics of a light-emitting diode in electronics and physics practicals. An LED is mounted on the panel with a 0–3 V DC, 25 mA regulated power supply and two round meters, and every connection is brought out to terminals so students wire the circuit themselves. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the LED Characteristics Apparatus Used For?

It lets students plot how current through an LED changes with the voltage across it. Under forward bias almost no current flows until the voltage reaches the LED’s knee (threshold) voltage; beyond it the current rises steeply and the LED begins to glow, getting brighter as the current increases. Students raise the regulated supply in small steps, read the voltage and current on the two round meters, and draw the forward characteristic, then find the knee voltage by extending the straight, steep part of the curve back to the voltage axis.

The practical belongs to semiconductor-device work in class 12 physics labs, B.Sc. physics and electronics, polytechnic and ITI electronics courses. The knee voltage depends on the semiconductor and therefore on the LED’s colour, which is why LEDs of known wavelength are also used in a simple estimate of Planck’s constant. Raise the voltage slowly near the knee, where a small step changes the current a lot, and do not reverse-bias the LED beyond a few volts, as LEDs tolerate very little reverse voltage.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; labs often buy it together with the photodiode and phototransistor units.
  • LED colour — the listing does not state the colour of the mounted LED, so mention it if your practical needs a particular one.
  • Mains supply — give your lab’s voltage and plug type so the power supply can be confirmed.
  • Connecting leads and spare LEDs — ask for them in the same enquiry if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the LED characteristics apparatus measure?
The current through an LED at each applied voltage. From the readings students plot the V–I curve and find the knee voltage at which the LED starts to conduct and emit light.

What power supply and meters does it have?
A DC regulated power supply of 0–3 V DC at 25 mA and two round meters, one for voltage and one for current. The LED and supply connections are brought out to terminals on the panel.

Why is the supply limited to 25 mA?
LEDs work at small currents and are damaged if the current is allowed to run away above the knee. A low-current supply keeps the readings in the range small LEDs are normally run at.

How is it different from the Characteristics of Opto Electronic Devices Kit?
This unit is dedicated to one LED. The kit, listed separately, mounts a phototransistor, a photodiode and an LED on one panel with a 0–3 V DC, 150 mA regulated supply, for labs that want all three devices in one trainer.

What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling needs, and a tender reference where one applies.

Who manufactures this apparatus?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it directly.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronic lab instruments in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The panel, regulated supply and meters of this unit are put together at JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy straight from the maker; every unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and follow-up orders and service questions go back to the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Mongolia in East Asia, the USA in North America, Samoa in Oceania, Slovenia in Southern Europe and Costa Rica in Central America and the Caribbean. For tender purchases, see the JLab lab tenders page.
