What Is the Square and Triangular Wave Convertor Used For?

It is used for waveform-conversion practicals in B.Sc. electronics, engineering, polytechnic and ITI/TVET labs. Square to triangular conversion uses an op amp integrator: during each half-cycle the square wave holds a constant level, so the integrator output ramps steadily up or down, and the ramps join into a triangular wave whose height depends on the RC values and the frequency. Triangular to square conversion uses a comparator or Schmitt trigger, which switches its output each time the ramp crosses its threshold. Connected in a loop, the two circuits form the triangular and square wave generator found inside many function generators. With the circuit printed on the panel, students can follow each stage while viewing the waveforms on an oscilloscope.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 trainers.
  • Circuit details — the listing does not name the op amp, supply rating or component values; state any your syllabus requires, and add a function generator or oscilloscope if needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the trainer turn a square wave into a triangular wave?
Through an integrator. A constant input level makes the integrator output change at a steady rate, so each half-cycle of the square wave becomes a straight ramp.

And how is a triangular wave turned back into a square wave?
Through a comparator-type circuit whose output switches between two levels whenever the triangular input crosses its threshold.

What does the panel include?
A DC regulated power supply, a printed circuit diagram and components mounted on the front panel. The supply rating and component values are not stated, so ask JLab to confirm them in the quotation.

Who manufactures it?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd), at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an electronics trainer manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The trainer is built at JLab’s own works, so institutions, dealers and importers buy direct from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Mozambique in East Africa, Kazakhstan in Central Asia, Slovenia in Southern Europe, Switzerland in Western Europe and Mongolia in East Asia.
