What Is the Ultrasonic Displacement Kit Used For?
It is used to study how distance and displacement can be measured by timing an ultrasonic echo, and how the weak received signal is amplified before it is measured.
Frequently Asked Questions
How does ultrasonic distance measurement work?
A short burst of ultrasound is sent towards the target and the echo is timed. The delay, multiplied by the speed of sound and halved for the return trip, gives the distance.
Why is the transducer driven at 40 kHz?
That frequency is well above human hearing, and driving a transducer at its resonant frequency gives the strongest sound output and the most sensitive reception.
Why is there a minimum measuring distance?
Ultrasonic rangers usually have a short blind zone: just after a burst is sent, the transducer keeps ringing briefly and cannot detect an echo, so targets very close to it cannot be measured. On this kit the range starts at 25 cm.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronics and instrumentation trainers in India, incorporated in 2017 and sited on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Its company registration is CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123, and it holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. The kit is made in JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so buyers place new and repeat orders with the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Cambodia in Southeast Asia, Ecuador in South America, Chad in Central Africa, Qatar in the Middle East and Zambia in East Africa.
Other Displacement Trainers
- Displacement Measurement Using LVDT Trainer Kit — linear displacement measured with an LVDT, with an on-board sine wave generator and instrumentation amplifier.
- Angular Displacement Kit — angle measured with a multi-turn potentiometer transducer, with a protractor for the reference angle.
- Sensor Trainer Kit — a multi-sensor trainer covering displacement, load, temperature, level, speed and smoke sensing.
