What Is the Amoebic Liver Abscess Model Used For?
People are infected with Entamoeba histolytica by swallowing its cysts in contaminated food or water. In the large intestine the active trophozoites can invade the bowel wall and cause amoebic dysentery; some are then carried through the portal vein to the liver, where they destroy tissue and leave a cavity filled with thick, liquefied material often described as “anchovy sauce”. Most of these abscesses form in the right lobe. A model shows the end of this journey in one object. Class 12 biology covers amoebiasis under human health and disease, and medical, nursing and paramedical courses study the abscess in parasitology and pathology. The topic also supports lessons on safe drinking water and food hygiene. The model is a teaching aid only and not a diagnostic device.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which organism causes an amoebic liver abscess?
Entamoeba histolytica, a parasitic amoeba that normally lives in the large intestine and spreads through food or water contaminated with its cysts.
Can it be used to diagnose a liver abscess?
No. It is a classroom model and makes no clinical or diagnostic claim.
Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its Ambala works and handles quotations directly.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer in India of biology lab equipment and parasitology and pathology teaching models, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is produced in JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so colleges, schools, dealers and importers buy from the maker, and each unit is visually inspected before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Namibia in Southern Africa, Sudan in North Africa, Brazil in South America, the Dominican Republic in Central America and the Caribbean and Denmark in Northern Europe.
