What Is the B.H. Curve Apparatus Used For?
A B-H curve shows how the magnetic flux density B in a ferromagnetic core responds to the magnetising field H. Taken through a full AC cycle, the core traces a hysteresis loop whose shape gives the retentivity and coercivity of the material, and whose area is a measure of the energy lost per cycle — the hysteresis loss that matters in transformer and motor cores. Raising the supply step by step increases the peak magnetising field, so the curve can be traced at several field levels in a magnetic-materials or electrical-engineering practical.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is a test specimen supplied?
Yes. The sample coil whose B-H curve is plotted is provided inside the cabinet.
What accessories come with it?
A power cord, patch cords and an instruction manual are the standard accessories.
How does it differ from JLab’s Hysteresis Curve Apparatus?
This is a compact electrical unit with its sample and supply inside one plastic cabinet. The Hysteresis Curve Apparatus is a magnetometer set-up: a solenoid, a neutralising coil and a reflecting magnetometer with a lamp-and-scale arrangement on a graduated wooden base.
Who manufactures the B.H. Curve Apparatus?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its own works in Ambala, Haryana, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and electrical lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The apparatus is made in JLab’s own works rather than resold from a trader, so universities, colleges, dealers and importers order it from the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Eswatini in Southern Africa, Guatemala in Central America and the Caribbean, DR Congo in Central Africa, Germany in Western Europe and Kazakhstan in Central Asia. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
