Cross Flow Heat Exchanger

Product Code : EL-HTTLP-9223
Jlab Export is a leading Cross Flow Heat Exchanger Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Cross Flow Heat Exchanger (code EL-HTTLP-9223) is a small-scale exchanger in which water and an air stream driven by an axial fan cross each other at right angles, made for use with the Heat Exchanger Service Unit to teach the fundamentals of heat transfer. K-type thermocouples measure the water and air temperatures at inlet and outlet. JLab builds the cross-flow unit in Ambala, India.

Analysing a Cross-Flow Exchanger

Because the two streams cross at right angles, the temperature difference between them changes across the core as well as along it, so the plain counter-flow LMTD cannot be used as it stands. It is multiplied by a correction factor F, at most 1, read from cross-flow charts for the measured temperatures; alternatively the effectiveness–NTU method is used, where effectiveness is the heat transferred divided by C_min × (hot inlet − cold inlet).

The air mass flow is the measured velocity × the flow area × the air density, and with the change in air temperature it gives the heat exchanged on the air side; the water flow rate and its temperature change give the matching figure on the water side. The parameters of the cross-flow exchange can be varied from run to run for a complete analysis, and the probes and axial fan come off easily for cleaning.
