How Does It Compare with Other JLab D.O Meters?
| Model | Power and display | Other listed details |
|---|---|---|
| This meter (EL-ELA-5300) | Mains, 220 V AC; 3½-digit LED | 0–20.0 ppm D.O and 0–50 °C; gold/silver D.O probe; RTD temperature probe; stirrer; dust cover |
| Portable Dissolved Oxygen Meter | 9 V battery; 3½-digit LCD | 0–20.0 ppm D.O and 0–50 °C; amperometric gold/silver membrane sensor |
| Dissolved Oxygen Meter | 9 V DC battery; 3½-digit LCD | 0–20 ppm, ±0.1 ppm; gold/silver amperometric probe; ABS body with carrying case for field use |
| Microprocessor Dissolved Oxygen Meter | Alphanumeric LCD | D.O and temperature; sample memory; printer attachment; auto or manual calibration |
Choose this meter for bench work where a built-in stirrer and a separate RTD temperature reading are wanted. The two battery models suit field sampling, and the microprocessor model suits labs that need stored results and printing.
What Is a D.O cum Temperature Meter Used For?
Dissolved oxygen is one of the main indicators of water quality: fish and other aquatic life need it, and it falls when organic pollution is broken down by microbes. Environmental science and chemistry departments use this meter for river, lake and tap-water surveys and for the biochemical oxygen demand (BOD) test, where D.O is measured before and after incubation. Fisheries and aquaculture units, water and effluent treatment plants and college environmental engineering labs use it the same way. Because oxygen dissolves less readily in warm water, the temperature reading and the manual compensation over 0–50 °C keep results comparable between samples.
A gold/silver amperometric probe consumes a little oxygen at its membrane, so the sample must keep moving past it — the job of the stirrer. Calibrate the probe as the instruction manual describes, keep the membrane clean and undamaged, rinse the probes with distilled water between samples, and fit the dust cover when the meter is not in use.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Mains supply — the meter is listed for 220 V ±10% AC, 50 Hz; state your supply if it differs.
- Spare probe items — ask about spare membranes and electrolyte for the gold/silver D.O probe.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Field use — if samples are tested on site, consider adding a battery-powered D.O meter.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does the meter measure?
Dissolved oxygen from 0 to 20.0 ppm with 0.1 ppm resolution, and temperature from 0 to 50 °C with 0.1 °C resolution, both on a 3½-digit LED display.
How accurate are the readings?
D.O accuracy is 0.1 ppm ±1 count and temperature accuracy is 0.20% ±1 count. Accuracy of the D.O temperature compensation is ±3%.
Is temperature compensation automatic?
No, it is manual over 0 to 50 °C: you set the sample temperature, read from the RTD probe, so the D.O value is corrected.
Why does it have a stirrer?
The gold/silver probe uses up oxygen at its membrane, so a still sample would give a falling reading. The stirrer keeps fresh sample flowing past the probe.
What comes with the meter?
A gold/silver D.O probe, a temperature probe, a dust cover and an instruction manual.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), the mains supply at site, and any tender reference.
Who manufactures this meter?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of water-testing and laboratory instruments in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The meter is built at JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so colleges, testing labs and dealers buy factory-direct, each instrument is visually inspected before dispatch, and probes and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. The company holds GSTIN 06AADCJ9848D1ZE and is identified by Legal Entity Identifier 549300DTGS77DGYD6N03. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Luxembourg in Western Europe, Armenia in Eastern Europe, South Africa in Southern Africa, Taiwan in East Asia and Yemen in the Middle East. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
