What Is the Electric Generator Chart Used For?
A generator works by electromagnetic induction. When a coil turns between the poles of a magnet, the magnetic flux through it changes continuously, an electromotive force is induced, and a current flows in the connected circuit. In a simple AC generator the ends of the coil are joined to slip rings and the output reverses direction every half turn; a DC generator uses a split-ring commutator instead, so the output keeps one direction. Fleming’s right-hand rule gives the direction of the induced current. In power stations, turbines driven by steam, falling water or wind turn large generators to supply the grid.
The generator is usually taught alongside the electric motor in secondary physics, and class 12 physics covers the AC generator in detail under electromagnetic induction. A wall chart lets the class trace the coil, the magnet and the rings while a working model runs on the bench. The listing does not name the individual panels or say whether an AC or DC machine is drawn, so request a preview image if your syllabus needs a particular type.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — minimum 10 charts; this is a printed chart, not a working generator.
- Working models — dynamo and water turbine models that show mechanical energy becoming electrical energy are separate items.
- Related titles — the Dynamo, Electric Motor and Electromagnetic Induction charts share this series’ format.
- Shipping details — destination country, port or city, and your preferred delivery terms.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this listing include a working generator?
No. It is a 58 x 90 cm wall chart about the generator. Dynamo and water turbine models are listed separately and linked below.
Does the chart show an AC or a DC generator?
The listing does not say, and it does not list the panels. Ask JLab for a preview image before ordering if you need a specific type or set of labels.
What paper and finish does it have?
Coated art paper of 130 gsm, offset printed in full colour using CTP technology, then laminated front and back with 30 micron heat-sealable polyester. The surface is listed as markable and washable.
What are its size and weight?
58 x 90 cm overall and 228 g. Rolled up, it measures about 58 x 4 x 2 cm. The text is in English only.
Who supplies the Electric Generator chart?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd of Ambala, Haryana, India — supplies it and quotes for it directly.
Supplier
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Besides the teaching apparatus it produces, JLab resells printed charts such as this generator title, so a school can receive the chart, a dynamo model and other physics lab items in one consignment. Its registrations include CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and GSTIN 06AADCJ9848D1ZE. Every chart is visually checked before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Ireland in Western Europe, Uruguay in South America, Jamaica in Central America and the Caribbean, Vietnam in Southeast Asia and Norway in Northern Europe. For tender purchases, see the lab tenders page.
Generator Models and Related Charts
- Working Model of Dynamo — shows the conversion of mechanical energy into electric energy and the principle of simple AC and DC dynamos.
- Dynamo Working Model — a standard working dynamo model designed for demonstration in labs.
- Water Turbine with Dynamo Model — a turbine connected directly to a dynamo, turning mechanical energy into electrical energy.
- Electromagnetic Induction — the chart on the principle every generator depends on.
- Electric Motor — the companion chart on the machine that works the other way round.
- Dynamo — the series chart on the dynamo.
