What Is the Electrical Machine Trainer Used For?

Electrical machines practicals look at how motors are started, reversed and loaded, how induction, synchronous, universal and DC machines differ, how an alternator is brought into synchronism, and how one DC machine can run as a motor or as a generator. This trainer brings that work onto one bench, with its panels and machines in a single set. Star/delta starting, for example, lowers the starting current of a three-phase induction motor compared with switching it straight on in delta, and swapping any two supply phases reverses its direction of rotation.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Number of trainer sets you need.
  • Delivery destination — country and port or city, with your preferred delivery terms.
  • Tender reference — if you are buying against a tender, send its number and specification so the quotation can follow it.
  • Separate motors — any extra stand-alone motors from the JLab range, linked below, can be quoted on the same enquiry.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which machines are supplied with the trainer?
A 3-phase AC slip-ring star/delta induction motor, capacitor-start and split-phase 1-phase induction motors, a 3-phase synchronous motor, a universal motor, a 3-phase salient-pole alternator, a DC machine motor/generator on a trunnion, a 3-phase 2-speed induction motor and a DC machine motor.

What load panels does it have?
A 1-phase AC/DC resistive load panel, a 3-phase resistive load panel, a 3-phase inductive load panel and a capacitive load panel.

How are the motors started and reversed?
Through the 3-phase DOL starter, 4-pole MCB, contactor and relay panel, together with the FWD/REV and STAR/DELTA switch panel.

What variable supplies are provided?
Three SCR-controlled variable DC panels and a variable AC/DC panel.

What metering is on the trainer?
Two 3-phase multifunction meter panels, a voltmeter and ammeter panel, and an instrumentation panel.

How does it differ from the 3 Phase Induction Motor Trainer?
The 3 Phase Induction Motor Trainer is supplied with an induction motor and has an IGBT-controlled AC panel; this trainer is supplied with the single-phase, three-phase and DC machines named above, including a 3-phase salient-pole alternator.

What should an export enquiry for this trainer include?
The number of sets, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you want (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling requirement and the tender reference if there is one.

Who manufactures the Electrical Machine Trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and quotes for it as the manufacturer.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of engineering lab equipment and electrical and electronics trainers, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The electrical machine trainer is built at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so colleges, institutes, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, each set is visually inspected before it leaves the works, and repeat orders and spare parts are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Canada in North America, Oman in the Middle East, Togo in West Africa, Malawi in East Africa and DR Congo in Central Africa. Institutions buying through tenders can find details on the JLab lab tenders page.
