What Is the Flow Process Control Trainer Used For?
It lets students work with and tune a complete control loop with industrial-style signals. The sensor’s current signal goes to the controller, which compares the measured flow with the set point and applies proportional, integral and derivative action; the I to P converter turns the controller’s current signal into an air-pressure signal that positions the valve. What does “air to close” mean for the control valve?
Rising air pressure closes the valve, so if the air signal is lost the valve moves to its open position. With its linear characteristic, the flow through the valve changes roughly in proportion to its travel.
