What Is the SMPS Trainer Used For?
A switch-mode power supply rectifies the mains to a high DC voltage, switches it at high frequency through a small transformer, and then rectifies, filters and regulates the transformer output into steady DC rails. Because the switching runs at tens or hundreds of kilohertz rather than at mains frequency, the transformer can be far smaller and lighter than a conventional one. The trainer is used in power electronics and electronics servicing practicals to study this conversion and to check each regulated rail.
Frequently Asked Questions
What input voltage does the trainer accept?
80 to 230 V AC ±10% at 50 Hz.
Why does the switching transformer run from 320 V DC?
The mains is rectified and smoothed before it reaches the switching stage, and 320 V DC is close to the peak value of 230 V AC mains. That DC is switched at 132 kHz to drive the transformer.
Is a variac available for the input?
Yes, a variac is offered as an option for setting the input voltage, and it can be added to the same quotation.
Who manufactures the SMPS Trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab), at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a power electronics and electronics trainer manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. It holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 (manufacturing enterprise) and Importer-Exporter Code 3317504552. The trainer is built at JLab’s own works, not bought in from a trader, and repeat orders and spares come from the same maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Armenia in Eastern Europe, Tanzania in East Africa, the USA in North America, Hong Kong in East Asia and Sri Lanka in South Asia. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
