What Is the Fertilization of the Angiosperms Model Used For?
It is used to teach double fertilization, the event characteristic of flowering plants. A pollen grain that lands on the stigma grows a pollen tube down the style to the ovule and releases two male gametes into the embryo sac. One fuses with the egg to form the zygote; the other fuses with the two polar nuclei to form the triploid primary endosperm nucleus, which becomes the endosperm that feeds the embryo.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Polygonum-type embryo sac?
The commonest type in flowering plants. It develops from one megaspore and, when mature, has seven cells with eight nuclei: the egg and two synergids at the micropylar end, three antipodal cells at the opposite end, and a large central cell holding two polar nuclei.
Why does the model show a stamen as well?
Pollen grains form in the anther, so the stamen section shows the male side of reproduction next to the embryo sac.
What should an export enquiry include?
The number of models, the destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, and any tender reference.
Who manufactures this model?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
