Jlab Export is a leading Lipid Bi-Layer Bilayer Membrane Model Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Lipid Bi-Layer Bilayer Membrane Model (code EL-BE-5887) is a biology teaching model of the lipid bilayer, the double sheet of phospholipid molecules that forms the basic fabric of every cell membrane. It is used in class 11 lessons on cell structure and biomolecules and in college cell biology and biochemistry. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Lipid Bilayer Membrane Model Used For?
A typical phospholipid has a glycerol backbone carrying two water-repelling fatty acid tails and a water-loving, phosphate-containing head. Placed in water, such molecules gather spontaneously into two layers, with the heads facing the watery fluid on each side and the tails tucked inward. The model gives students something concrete to point at when they learn why this arrangement forms on its own, why the two leaflets can differ in lipid make-up, and how membrane proteins and cholesterol fit among the lipids.
It also supports lessons on membrane behaviour. Unsaturated fatty acid tails have kinks that keep the bilayer fluid, while cholesterol in animal cells moderates that fluidity. Because the core is oily, small non-polar molecules such as oxygen and carbon dioxide pass through easily, but ions and sugars need channel or carrier proteins — the starting point for osmosis, diffusion and transport topics.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why do phospholipids form a bilayer rather than a single layer?
Their tails avoid water. In a bilayer both sets of tails are hidden from the water while the heads stay in contact with it, which is the most stable arrangement for these molecules.
Does the model include proteins and cholesterol?
The listing does not say which components are shown, nor the size or material. Request a description and photograph from JLab with the quotation.
How many must I order, and how soon is dispatch?
At least 10 units, each sold individually and visually checked. Orders usually leave within 7–10 working days; export transit is extra.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer in India of laboratory equipment and biology teaching models, incorporated in 2017 and working from Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. JLab makes this bilayer model in-house instead of trading in bought stock, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers are supplied by the manufacturer itself and repeat orders stay with one source. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example South Africa in Southern Africa, Maldives in South Asia, Slovakia in Eastern Europe, Liberia in West Africa and Guatemala in Central America and the Caribbean. See the JLab lab tenders page for tender enquiries.
