What Is the Small Pox Pustules Model Used For?
Smallpox was caused by the variola virus, an orthopoxvirus. Its rash moved through flat spots, raised papules and fluid-filled vesicles to firm, deep-seated pustules that crusted into scabs and often left pitted scars. In any one area the lesions were at the same stage, and they were densest on the face and limbs, including the palms and soles. A worldwide vaccination campaign, building on Edward Jenner’s cowpox vaccine, made smallpox the only human disease eradicated so far.
Teachers use the model in microbiology, community-medicine and nursing lessons on pox viruses, on telling smallpox apart from chickenpox and related orthopoxvirus infections such as mpox, and on how vaccination can remove a disease. It is a study aid only.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do smallpox pustules differ from chickenpox spots?
Smallpox lesions were deep, firm and all at the same stage in one area, concentrated on the face and limbs. Chickenpox spots are more superficial, appear in crops at different stages and cluster on the trunk, usually sparing the palms and soles.
Why is an eradicated disease still taught?
It explains how vaccination works, it is the model case for disease eradication, and recognising pox lesions remains useful for related infections such as mpox.
Is the size or material listed?
No. JLab confirms the size, material and mounting with its quotation.
Who manufactures this model?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) makes it in Ambala, India, and quotes for it directly.
OEM Manufacturer
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd trades as JLab and manufactures laboratory equipment and pathology teaching models in India. Incorporated in 2017, it is based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is made at JLab’s own works, not bought in from a trader, so colleges, dealers and importers buy direct from the maker, and every piece is visually inspected before it leaves. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Guyana in South America, Samoa in Oceania, Costa Rica in Central America and the Caribbean, Ukraine in Eastern Europe and Togo in West Africa, for example. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
