Oil Film Apparatus Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India
Product Code : EL-SLE-5758
Jlab Export is a leading Oil Film Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Oil Film Apparatus (code EL-SLE-5758) is a set for the oil-film experiment in physics, in which a tiny drop of oil spreads on water into a very thin film so that students can estimate the size of a molecule. It is listed with a tray and levelling device, a Perspex tray, a petri dish, square and round wire frames with a handle for creating films, and oils and materials. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is an Oil Film Apparatus Used For?
In the oil-film method a tray of clean water is levelled and its surface lightly dusted with a fine powder such as lycopodium. A drop of oil of known volume — usually oleic acid diluted in alcohol — is placed at the centre and spreads into a roughly circular film, pushing the powder aside. Students measure the diameter of the patch, work out its area, and divide the volume of oil by that area to find the thickness of the film, which approximates the size of one molecule. The experiment is a classic of senior-secondary and college physics because it measures something far too small to see with very simple equipment.
The tray must be completely free of grease for the film to spread evenly, so wash it with detergent and rinse it well before each run. Clean the Perspex tray with water and mild soap only, as solvents such as acetone attack acrylic.
Frequently Asked Questions
What experiment is the oil film apparatus used for?
Estimating the size of a molecule: a measured drop of oil spreads on water into a film about one molecule thick, and its thickness is found from the oil volume and the area of the film.
What is included in the set?
A tray with levelling device, a Perspex tray, a petri dish, square and round wire frames with a handle for creating films, and oils and materials. The types and quantities of oils and materials are not stated, so ask JLab to confirm them with your quotation.
What size are the trays?
Tray sizes are not given in the listing. State any size requirement in your enquiry and JLab will confirm what it supplies.
Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and science teaching-apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The oil film apparatus is assembled at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers deal with the maker directly, each set gets a visual check before it is packed, and repeat orders are handled by the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example France in Western Europe, Qatar in the Middle East, Guatemala in Central America and the Caribbean, Ukraine in Eastern Europe and Canada in North America. Tender buyers can refer to the JLab lab tenders page.
