What Is the Radioactivity Chart Used For?
Radioactivity was discovered by Henri Becquerel in uranium salts and investigated further by Marie and Pierre Curie. Unstable nuclei decay on their own, emitting alpha particles (helium nuclei, stopped by a sheet of paper), beta particles (fast electrons, stopped by a few millimetres of aluminium) or gamma rays (high-energy electromagnetic waves, reduced only by thick lead or concrete). The time taken for half the nuclei in a sample to decay is its half-life, which ranges from fractions of a second to billions of years depending on the isotope. Radiation is detected with instruments such as a Geiger-Muller tube, and radioactive isotopes are used in medicine, industry and radiocarbon dating — which is also why sources must be handled with tongs and stored safely.
Radioactivity has its own chapter in ICSE class 10 physics and forms part of nuclear physics in class 12 and college courses. The chart supports demonstration-based lessons with a GM tube, low-activity mineral samples and a diffusion cloud chamber. The listing does not describe the panels, so ask for a preview image if you need to check them.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Number of charts — the minimum order is 10 units.
- Detection apparatus — the Geiger-Muller tube and the diffusion chamber are separate items.
- Safe handling and samples — source handling tongs and slightly radioactive mineral samples can be added to the enquiry.
- Delivery — destination country, port or city and the delivery terms to quote.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does this listing include any radioactive material or apparatus?
No. It is a printed chart only and contains nothing radioactive. The GM tube, handling tongs and mineral samples are listed separately below.
What does the chart show?
The listing names the topic but not the individual panels. Ask JLab for a preview image to check the diagrams before ordering.
Which syllabus does it suit?
Radioactivity is a chapter in ICSE class 10 physics and part of class 12 and college nuclear physics. Use the preview image to confirm the level.
What are the size, weight and finish?
58 x 90 cm and 228 g, about 58 x 4 x 2 cm rolled. It is CTP offset printed in full colour on 130 gsm coated art paper, laminated on both sides with 30 micron heat-sealable polyester, and has a markable, washable surface. English only.
Who supplies the Radioactivity chart?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, known as JLab, in Ambala, Haryana, India supplies the chart and quotes for it directly.
Supplier
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Alongside the physics apparatus it makes, the company supplies this chart series, so a nuclear physics lab can source its wall charts and bench items in one order. Each chart is visually inspected before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and serves buyers in every region — for example Tajikistan in Central Asia, Costa Rica in Central America and the Caribbean, Lithuania in Northern Europe, Papua New Guinea in Oceania and Mali in West Africa. Tender purchasing is covered on the lab tenders page.
