What Is the T.B. Infiltration in Lungs Model Used For?
Pulmonary tuberculosis is caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis and spreads through the air when a person with active lung TB coughs or sneezes. In the lungs the bacteria set up inflammation, and the affected tissue fills with inflammatory cells and fluid — an infiltrate — most often in the upper parts of the lungs, where it shows as patchy shadows on a chest X-ray. Without treatment the infiltrated areas can break down into cavities. Typical symptoms are a cough lasting more than two weeks, fever, night sweats and weight loss.
