Product Code : EL-SI-8034
Jlab Export is a leading Temperature Co-efficient Resistance Coil Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Temperature Co-efficient Resistance Coil (code EL-SI-8034) is a coil of fine enamelled copper wire, of about 7–10 ohms, enclosed in a borosilicate glass tube made to contain paraffin oil, used to determine the temperature coefficient of resistance of copper in school and college physics labs. The tube is approx. 100 mm long and 25 mm in diameter, with a rubber stopper drilled for a thermometer. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Temperature Coefficient Coil Used For?
The resistance of a metal such as copper rises almost linearly with temperature, and the temperature coefficient of resistance expresses how much it changes per degree relative to its value at a reference temperature. In this experiment the glass tube is stood in a water bath, a thermometer goes through the stopper into the paraffin oil around the coil, and the coil’s resistance is measured at a series of temperatures with a meter bridge, a Carey Foster bridge or a post office box. Plotting resistance against temperature gives a straight line whose slope and intercept give the coefficient. The paraffin oil passes heat evenly to the coil while keeping water away from the windings, and the thick copper leads add little resistance of their own compared with the coil.
The experiment appears in senior school physics practicals and in B.Sc. heat and electricity labs. Heat the bath slowly and stir it, wait for the thermometer reading to settle before each balance, and take readings on both heating and cooling if time allows. Handle the glass tube with care when it is hot.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the resistance of the coil?
About 7–10 ohms, from a coil of fine enamelled copper wire wound on an insulating frame.
What are the tube dimensions?
The borosilicate glass tube is approx. 100 mm × 25 mm diameter and is closed by a rubber stopper drilled for a thermometer.
Is paraffin oil or a thermometer supplied?
The tube is made to contain paraffin oil and the stopper is drilled for a thermometer; the listing does not say that the oil or thermometer is included, so add them to your enquiry if you need them.
Who manufactures this coil?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics lab apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The coil is made at JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the maker. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Nepal in South Asia, Lebanon in the Middle East, Ivory Coast in West Africa, Angola in Central Africa and Morocco in North Africa. Tender buyers can refer to the JLab lab tenders page.
