Tensile Strength Tester Manufacturer,Supplier and Exporter in India

Tensile Strength Tester

Product Code : EL-CACTE-9467
Jlab Export is a leading Tensile Strength Tester Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Briquette testing finds the tensile strength of cement mortar by pulling apart a waisted specimen. This double lever machine loads the briquette automatically with lead shot, up to 5 kN. Its steel scale is marked 0 to 500 N in 10 N divisions. It comes with 15 kg of lead shot and a standard briquette mould.

Briquette Tensile Test Practicals

Students mix cement and standard sand mortar in the Cement Mortar Mixer and fill a Briquette Mould, pressing the mortar well into the narrow waist. After curing in water, each briquette is set in the grips of the machine. Lead shot then flows in and raises the load through the levers until the briquette breaks. The shot is weighed with the weights supplied, which are marked in kN of load.

Students test briquettes at 3 and 7 days and compare them with cubes from the Mortar Cube Vibrating Machine. Mortar turns out far weaker in tension than in compression. The class can also see how the strength gain with age differs between the two tests.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is tensile strength worked out from the test?
Divide the load at which the briquette breaks by the area of its waist, the narrowest section. With the load in newtons and the area in square millimetres, the answer is in N/mm². The waist is shaped so that the break happens there.

Why is lead shot used for loading?
Lead shot flows in at a steady rate, so the load rises smoothly, without the jolts of hand-added weights. The shot is easy to weigh afterwards, and the double lever turns its weight into the much larger pull on the briquette.

What comes with the machine?
The tester comes with 15 kg of lead shot and one standard briquette mould with a base plate. A set of weights for weighing the shot is included, one each for 0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2.0 kN.

What is the maximum load?
The maximum loading capacity is 5 kN, applied through the double lever system. Cement mortar briquettes break at a small part of the load that a cube of the same mortar carries in compression.

Is the briquette test still used?
Most cement standards now judge strength from crushed mortar cubes or prisms. The briquette test stays a common teaching practical, because it shows clearly how weak mortar is when pulled apart.
