What Is the X-Ray Chart Used For?

X-rays were discovered by Wilhelm Roentgen while he was experimenting with cathode-ray tubes. They are electromagnetic waves with a far shorter wavelength than visible light, produced when fast electrons strike a target: in an X-ray tube, electrons from a heated filament are accelerated through a high voltage onto a metal target, often tungsten, and most of their energy becomes heat while a small fraction emerges as X-rays. X-rays pass easily through soft tissue but are absorbed more strongly by bone and other dense materials, which is the basis of medical radiographs and airport baggage scanners, and their diffraction by crystals lets scientists work out how atoms are arranged. Because X-rays are ionising, exposure is kept low and equipment is shielded with lead.

X-rays belong to the electromagnetic spectrum taught in class 12 physics and in the ICSE class 10 chapter on the spectrum, and the X-ray tube links naturally to lessons on cathode rays. The chart gives the class a reference for these ideas without any radiation equipment in the room. The listing does not describe the printed panels, so ask for a preview image to check the content.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Number of charts — the minimum order is 10 units.
  • Companion charts — Radioactivity and Television come from the same series.
  • Apparatus — a cathode ray tube and an X-ray film viewer are separate catalogue items.
  • Delivery — destination country, port or city and the delivery terms you want quoted.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this X-ray equipment?
No. It is a printed wall chart about X-rays; it produces no radiation. Working apparatus such as a cathode ray tube is listed separately.

What does the chart show?
The listing gives the topic but not the individual panels. Ask JLab for a preview image to see the diagrams before you order.

Which courses is it suited to?
Class 12 physics, the ICSE class 10 chapter on the spectrum, and introductory college modern physics, as well as general science lessons on medical imaging.

What are the size, weight and finish?
58 x 90 cm, 228 g, about 58 x 4 x 2 cm rolled. Full-colour CTP offset printing on 130 gsm coated art paper, 30 micron heat-sealable polyester lamination on both sides, and a markable, washable surface. English only.

What details are needed for an export quotation?
Quantity, destination country and port or city, preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference if applicable.

Who supplies the X-Ray chart?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd), Ambala, Haryana, India supplies it and gives quotations directly.

Supplier

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. Besides the physics apparatus it makes, the company supplies this series of printed physics charts, so modern-physics titles can be included in a laboratory order. Charts are checked visually before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and serves buyers in every region — for example Malawi in East Africa, Oman in the Middle East, Afghanistan in South Asia, Cameroon in Central Africa and Norway in Northern Europe. Tender information is on the lab tenders page.

X-Ray and Electron Beam Teaching Items

  • Cathode Ray Tube — a vacuum tube in which an electron beam striking a phosphorescent surface forms an image.
  • Miniature X-Ray Contrasters — for viewing miniature X-ray films magnified on a built-in projection screen.
  • Radioactivity — the series chart on radiation from unstable nuclei.
  • Television — the series chart on television.

More titles are listed in Physics Charts and across Charts.
