What Is the Cyclops Model Used For?
Cyclops is a genus of copepods, small crustaceans in the phylum Arthropoda that form part of the zooplankton and are only just visible to the naked eye. It takes its name from the one-eyed giant of Greek myth because it has a single median eye. The body has a broad front part and a narrow hind part ending in a forked tail; the long first antennae drive its jerky swimming, and the female carries a pair of egg sacs. The eggs hatch into nauplius larvae.
In parasitology, Cyclops matters as the intermediate host of the Guinea worm, Dracunculus medinensis: people become infected by drinking water containing infected copepods. Filtering drinking water through cloth removes them, which is how India and many other countries eliminated the disease. It is also a host of the fish tapeworm.

Frequently Asked Questions
What kind of animal is Cyclops?
A copepod — a tiny freshwater crustacean, related to crabs and shrimps, that lives among the plankton of ponds and wells.
Why is Cyclops important in public health?
It carries the larvae of the Guinea worm. Drinking unfiltered water that contains infected Cyclops passes the parasite to people, so safe or filtered water breaks the cycle.
Why is it called Cyclops?
Because it has a single eye in the middle of its head, like the one-eyed giant of Greek mythology.
Who manufactures the model?
JLab makes it at its works in Ambala, India; its size and material are confirmed with the quotation.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, which manufactures laboratory equipment and zoology and parasitology models in India. It was incorporated in 2017 and is based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is made in JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers order factory-direct, and each piece is visually inspected before dispatch. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — Botswana in Southern Africa, Japan in East Asia, Portugal in Southern Europe, Congo in Central Africa and Paraguay in South America, for example. Tender buyers can see the JLab lab tenders page.
