Four Measurements From One Slider
The large outside jaws close on a shaft or plate for an outside diameter or thickness, while the small upper jaws open against the wall of a bore for an inside diameter. Sliding the jaws apart also pushes the thin rod out of the end of the beam, so a depth is read by resting the beam end on the rim and running the rod down to the bottom. For a step height, the rear faces of the fixed jaw and the slider rest on the two levels. Each result appears on the LCD, so no vernier graduations have to be lined up.
Using the SPC Output and Looking After the Caliper
The SPC data output lets readings be passed to a compatible recorder or computer for statistical process control instead of being written down by hand. Move the slider with the thumb roller rather than by pushing the jaws, switch the display off after use to save the battery, and return the caliper to its fitted case between sessions.
