Electroplating and Corrosion

Product Code : EL-CC-2859
Jlab Export is a leading Electroplating and Corrosion Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Electroplating and Corrosion (code EL-CC-2859) is a 58 x 90 cm chemistry wall chart that links two sides of electrochemistry: coating an object with metal by electrolysis, and the slow attack of metals such as iron by air and water. It suits secondary-school and college chemistry rooms and is printed in full colour on coated art paper, laminated on both sides and fitted with plastic rollers, in English only. JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, Ambala, India) supplies it to schools, colleges and dealers.

What Is the Electroplating and Corrosion Chart Used For?

Electroplating deposits a thin, even layer of one metal on another by electrolysis. The object to be plated is made the cathode, a bar of the plating metal is the anode, and the electrolyte is a solution of a salt of that metal — copper sulphate solution for copper plating, for example. As current flows, metal ions are discharged on the object while the anode dissolves to replace them. Chromium on taps and bicycle parts, tin on food cans and silver or gold on jewellery are all applied this way, to resist corrosion, improve appearance or harden the surface.

Corrosion is the gradual destruction of a metal by its surroundings. Iron rusts only when both oxygen and water are present, forming hydrated iron(III) oxide, and salt water speeds the process; silver turns black and copper gains a green coating. Rusting is itself electrochemical, with iron oxidised at one part of the surface and oxygen reduced at another. It is prevented by painting, oiling or greasing, galvanising with zinc, electroplating, alloying as in stainless steel, or attaching a more reactive metal as a sacrificial block. Electroplating appears in middle-school lessons on the chemical effects of electric current; in India rusting and its prevention, including the iron-nail test-tube experiment, belong to class 10 science, and the electrochemical mechanism to class 12 chemistry. The markable, washable lamination lets teachers annotate the chart during the lesson. The listing does not itemise the diagrams printed on it, so ask for a preview image if you need to check them.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units, supplied as individual charts.
  • Electrolysis apparatus — a copper voltameter can be quoted on the same enquiry for a plating demonstration.
  • Related titles — metallurgy and electrochemistry charts in the same 58 x 90 cm format.
  • Delivery — destination country, port or city and delivery terms for an export quotation.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Electroplating and Corrosion chart cover?
Its subject is electroplating by electrolysis and the corrosion of metals, including rusting. The listing does not itemise the diagrams, so request a preview image to see exactly what is printed.

Which classes use it?
Middle-school science (chemical effects of electric current), class 10 science (rusting and its prevention), class 12 chemistry (electrochemistry) and college or polytechnic courses on materials.

What size is the chart and how is it finished?
It measures 58 x 90 cm (about 22.8 x 35.4 in), is printed on 130 gsm coated art paper, laminated on both sides with 30 micron polyester film, and hangs from plastic rollers.

Can it be written on and cleaned?
Yes, the listing describes the laminated surface as markable and washable.

What information does an export enquiry need?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms (for example FOB or CIF), packing or labelling instructions and any tender reference.

Who supplies the Electroplating and Corrosion chart?
JLab, the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, Ambala, Haryana, supplies it and quotes for it directly.

Supplier

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. JLab supplies chemistry wall charts such as this one alongside its own range of school laboratory apparatus, including electrolysis equipment, so a chemistry teacher can order the chart and the demonstration kit together; every chart is visually inspected before dispatch. The company exports worldwide and can ship to every region — Sri Lanka in South Asia, Morocco in North Africa, the Czech Republic in Eastern Europe, Finland in Northern Europe and Samoa in Oceania, for example. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
