What Is the Food Poisoning Model Used For?

Food poisoning is usually taught in two groups. In intoxication, bacteria have already made toxin in the food before it is eaten, so symptoms start within hours: Staphylococcus aureus, passed on by food handlers, causes sudden vomiting after foods such as cream, ham or salads, the emetic form of Bacillus cereus is linked with reheated rice, and Clostridium botulinum produces a nerve toxin in badly preserved foods that causes paralysis. In infection, the organisms themselves multiply in the gut, so illness starts later: Salmonella and Campylobacter from poultry and eggs, Vibrio parahaemolyticus from seafood, and Shiga toxin-producing E. coli from undercooked meat.

Clostridium perfringens sits between the two: its spores survive cooking in meat dishes kept warm, and toxin is released in the intestine. Listeria grows even at refrigerator temperatures and is a particular risk in pregnancy. Linking each organism with its food, onset time and prevention — thorough cooking, prompt chilling and hand hygiene — is the core of the lesson.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which organisms does the model cover?
The original title says some major food-poisoning organisms but does not list them. Ask JLab for a description and photo before ordering.

Why does staphylococcal food poisoning start so quickly?
The toxin is already in the food and is not destroyed by reheating, so vomiting can begin within a few hours without the bacteria needing to grow in the gut.

Who manufactures this model?
JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd), at its own works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a microbiology teaching-model and lab equipment manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The model is made in its own works, not bought from a trader, so colleges, catering and hygiene training institutes, dealers and importers buy from the maker. The company is an MSME Udyam-registered manufacturing enterprise (UDYAM-HR-01-0003849) and holds Importer-Exporter Code 3317504552. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Samoa in Oceania, South Korea in East Asia, Namibia in Southern Africa, Finland in Northern Europe and Zambia in East Africa.
