Head Phone

Product Code : EL-SI-8094
Jlab Export is a leading Head Phone Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Head Phone (code EL-SI-8094) is a flexible-type laboratory headphone with high-resistance receivers, used to find the null point of AC bridges by ear in college physics and electrical labs. The headband is fully adjustable to head size, so the same set can be shared by students across a lab. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Head Phone Used For?

When an AC bridge is driven by an audio-frequency source, such as a bridge oscillator, a headphone connected across the detector points carries a tone whenever the bridge is out of balance. The student adjusts the bridge arms until the tone fades to its quietest point, which marks the balance. High-resistance receivers respond to the small out-of-balance signal while drawing little current from the bridge, which is why they are the traditional detector for De Sauty, Wien, Anderson and similar bridges in B.Sc. physics practicals. Work in a quiet room for the clearest null, wipe the ear pieces between users and coil the cord loosely after use.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is this head phone used for in the lab?
Mainly as an audio null detector for AC bridges: the tone in the receivers becomes quietest when the bridge is balanced.

Why are high-resistance receivers used?
They respond to small signals while drawing little current from the detector points, so they disturb the bridge less than low-resistance earphones would.

Is there an alternative to finding the null by ear?
Yes. JLab’s Null Detector is designed for AC bridges in place of a headphone and shows the balance on a meter, which is easier to judge in a busy lab.

Who manufactures it?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes the head phone at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics lab instruments manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The head phone is made at JLab’s own works instead of being bought in from a trader, so colleges, dealers and importers order direct from the maker and repeat orders come from the same source. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example the UK in Western Europe, Belize in Central America and the Caribbean, Gabon in Central Africa, Indonesia in Southeast Asia and Mexico in North America. Tender buyers can see the JLab lab tenders page.

Bridges and Detectors

  • Null Detector — a solid-state, meter-reading detector designed to replace the headphone.
  • Bridge Oscillator — a fixed-frequency sine-wave source for four-arm bridges.
  • DE Sauty Bridge — a capacitance-comparison bridge that uses a high-impedance head phone to detect the null.
  • Self Inductance Bridge — a bridge for finding the self-inductance of a coil.
