How Does It Compare with Other JLab LCR Instruments?
| Model | Ranges as listed | Type and other details |
|---|---|---|
| This bridge (EL-TAMI-1029) | R 0.01 ohm to 1 megohm; C 2 pF to 110 µF; L 2 µH to 110 H | Solid-state bridge; ±1%; D and Q ranges listed; mains or 9 V battery |
| Digital L.C.R. METER | C up to 10,000 µF; R up to 20 megohm; L up to 2,000 H | Bench digital meter with LED display; D and Q read directly; 220 V mains |
| Hand held L.C.D. | L 1 mH to 100 H; C 1 pF to 100 mF; R 0.1 ohm to 20 megohm | Hand-held LCR meter with LCD display |
| Q Meter | Q 0.1 to 100 | Measures the Q of inductors at 1 kHz or 10 kHz on a moving-coil meter |
Choose this bridge when you want students to measure all three component types by the bridge method, down to 0.01 ohm and 2 µH, with the option of battery operation. The digital meters give direct readings for quick checks, and the Q Meter is the dedicated choice for coil quality factor.
What Is the L.C.R. Bridge Used For?
An LCR bridge finds an unknown resistor, capacitor or inductor by balancing it against known standards until the detector shows a null. Resistance is compared in a Wheatstone-type arm, while capacitors and inductors are measured with alternating current, and the bridge also gives the dissipation factor (D) of a capacitor — a measure of its losses — and the quality factor (Q) of a coil. Students use it to identify unmarked components, check capacitors for leakage and loss, measure the inductance of coils they have wound, and verify the values used in filter, resonance and time-constant experiments.
It suits B.Sc. physics and electronics practicals, electrical and electronics engineering labs, polytechnics and ITI electronics workshops. Battery operation lets the bridge be used away from mains outlets or where mains hum would disturb a sensitive null. Disconnect a component from its circuit before measuring it, discharge capacitors first, and keep leads short when measuring small capacitances and inductances, since lead capacitance and inductance add to the reading.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Instrument — this bridge, the bench Digital L.C.R. METER or the hand-held LCR meter.
- Power — it runs on 220 V, 50 Hz or a 9 V battery; state your local mains supply.
- Components to measure — add a decade inductance box or standard components if students need known values.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
What ranges does the L.C.R. bridge cover?
Resistance from 0.01 ohm to 1 megohm in seven ranges, capacitance from 2 pF to 110 µF, and inductance from 2 µH to 110 H in seven ranges, with an accuracy of ±1%.
Can it run without mains power?
Yes. It works on 220 V, 50 Hz mains or on a 9 V battery.
What do the D and Q readings mean?
D, the dissipation factor, shows the losses in a capacitor; Q, the quality factor, compares a coil’s reactance with its loss resistance. The listing gives D from 0.001 to 10 and Q from 1 to 10.
How is it different from the Digital L.C.R. Meter?
The bridge measures by balancing to a null and reaches down to 0.01 ohm and 2 µH. The Digital L.C.R. Meter reads values directly on an LED display and extends to higher capacitance and inductance.
What should an export enquiry include?
The quantity, destination country and port or city, delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, your mains supply, packing or labelling needs and any tender reference.
Who manufactures this bridge?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, and supplies it direct as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an electronic lab instruments manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and located on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The bridge is assembled in JLab’s own works instead of being sourced from a trader, so engineering colleges, institutes, dealers and importers order straight from the maker; each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the same team. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Thailand in Southeast Asia, Chile in South America, Egypt in North Africa, Jamaica in Central America and the Caribbean and Hungary in Eastern Europe. For tenders, see the JLab lab tenders page.
