Product Code : EL-SCD-1080
Jlab Export is a leading SCR Characteristics Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
SCR Characteristics Apparatus (code EL-SCD-1080) is a bench unit for plotting the anode current versus anode–cathode voltage characteristic of a silicon controlled rectifier (SCR) in electronics and power-electronics practicals. The SCR is mounted on the panel with two DC regulated power supplies, 0–3 V DC/50 mA and 0–150 V DC, and three meters for voltage and current. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the SCR Characteristics Apparatus Used For?
An SCR is a four-layer PNPN thyristor with anode, cathode and gate terminals. With no gate current it blocks forward current until the anode–cathode voltage reaches the forward breakover voltage; a small gate current brings that breakover point down, and once the SCR fires it keeps conducting as long as the anode current stays above the holding current. Students raise the anode–cathode voltage step by step, note the anode current at each step, and plot the curve, marking the forward blocking region, the breakover voltage, the low-voltage on-state region and the holding current. In set-ups of this kind the low-voltage supply usually drives the gate and the higher-voltage supply the anode circuit, so repeating the run at a few gate currents shows how the gate controls switching.
The SCR characteristic is a standard experiment in B.Sc. electronics, in power-electronics and electronic devices labs of engineering and polytechnic colleges, and in ITI electronics courses, and it leads on to SCR triggering, phase-control and converter circuits. The anode supply goes up to 150 V DC, so switch it off before touching or changing any connection, and raise the voltage slowly as it nears breakover.
What to Specify When Ordering
- SCR type and spares — the listing does not name the SCR; ask for its type and order spare devices.
- Meter ranges — request them if your worksheet uses fixed ranges.
- Companion trainers — the diac, triac and combined thyristor apparatus linked below can be added to the same enquiry.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which characteristic does this apparatus plot?
The anode current against anode–cathode voltage characteristic of an SCR, read on the apparatus’s three meters.
What power supplies are built in?
Two DC regulated supplies: 0–3 V DC at 50 mA and 0–150 V DC, connected through terminals along with the meters and the SCR.
How is an SCR different from a triac?
An SCR conducts in one direction only once triggered, while a triac can conduct in both directions. JLab lists a separate Triac Characteristics Apparatus for that device.
What size is the unit?
15 x 8 x 4 inches, about 38 x 20 x 10 cm, for a standard lab bench.
Who manufactures this apparatus?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of electronics and physics lab apparatus in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The SCR apparatus is put together in JLab’s own works instead of being bought in from a trader, so colleges, institutes, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct; every unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and spare SCRs are handled by the manufacturer. The company is registered under CIN U29309HR2017PTC069123 and holds MSME Udyam registration UDYAM-HR-01-0003849 as a manufacturing enterprise. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Greece in Southern Europe, Uzbekistan in Central Asia, Mexico in North America, Nepal in South Asia and Paraguay in South America. See the JLab lab tenders page for tender information.
