Product Code : EL-SCD-1095
Jlab Export is a leading Characteristics and Applications Thyristors Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Characteristics and Applications Thyristors (code EL-SCD-1095) is a thyristor trainer for studying the characteristics and applications of four devices — the diac, triac, UJT and SCR — on one panel. It has three DC regulated power supplies (0–15 V DC/150 mA, 0–50 V DC/100 mA and 0–2.5 V DC/200 mA) and four dual-range meters, with all devices and supporting components wired to terminals. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Thyristor Apparatus?
| Option | Devices | Supplies, meters and parts (as listed) |
|---|---|---|
| This trainer (EL-SCD-1095) | Diac, triac, UJT and SCR | Three DC regulated supplies; four dual-range meters; supporting components on the panel |
| Characteristics and Applications of Basic Thyristor | Diac, triac, SCR and UJT | Inbuilt variable DC regulated supplies; analog moving-coil meters; resistances, capacitors and a lamp with holder; symbol diagram on the front panel |
| Single-device apparatus (SCR, triac, diac, UJT) | One device each | Each with its own supplies and meters, linked below |
Choose this trainer when one bench should cover all four devices with its own supplies and meters. The basic thyristor model lists a lamp with holder among its parts, and the single-device units let a lab run four stations at once.
What Is the Thyristor Characteristics and Applications Trainer Used For?
The four devices make up the basic thyristor family used in power control. The SCR conducts one way once its gate is triggered and stays on until its current falls below the holding value. The triac does the same in both directions, so it can control AC power. The diac has no gate: it switches on in either direction once its breakover voltage is reached, which makes it the usual trigger for a triac in lamp dimmers and fan regulators. The UJT has an emitter and two bases; past its peak point it shows a negative-resistance region down to the valley point, which is why it is used in relaxation oscillators that produce trigger pulses for SCRs and triacs. Students plot each device’s V–I curve, mark breakover, peak, valley and holding points, and then move on to the application circuits.
The trainer suits B.Sc. electronics, power-electronics and electronic devices labs in engineering and polytechnic colleges, and ITI electronics courses. With supplies up to 50 V DC on the panel, switch off before changing connections and raise each supply slowly near breakover.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Application circuits — the listing does not name the application circuits built in; ask JLab which ones are included.
- Spare devices — ask for the device types fitted and order spare SCRs, triacs, diacs and UJTs.
- Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which devices can be studied?
The diac, triac, UJT and SCR, each mounted on the panel with its supporting components and connected through terminals.
What power supplies and meters are included?
Three DC regulated supplies — 0–15 V DC/150 mA, 0–50 V DC/100 mA and 0–2.5 V DC/200 mA — and four dual-range meters for voltage and current.
Which applications are covered?
The listing states that applications of the four devices are studied but does not list the circuits. Typical examples are a UJT trigger for an SCR and diac–triac phase control; confirm the exact set with JLab.
Should I buy this trainer or the single-device units?
This trainer covers all four devices on one bench. Separate SCR, triac, diac and UJT units let several groups work at the same time.
Who manufactures this trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an electronic lab instruments manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The thyristor trainer is built in JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so colleges, institutes, dealers and importers buy factory-direct; every unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders and spare devices are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Turkmenistan in Central Asia, Iceland in Northern Europe, Hong Kong in East Asia, Sri Lanka in South Asia and Honduras in Central America and the Caribbean. Tender information is on the JLab lab tenders page.
