Telephone Exchange Trainer (code EL-FOT-10259) is a microcontroller-based stored program control (SPC) exchange for the telecommunication lab, switching calls between two DOT lines and four extension lines so that students can study how an exchange connects and supervises calls. Eight on-board switch faults support fault-finding exercises. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Telephone Exchange Trainer Used For?
In a stored program control exchange, a processor running a stored program does the switching work that relays and selectors once did: it notices when a handset is lifted, sends dial tone, reads the dialled number, connects the speech path to the called line, rings it and returns ring-back or busy tone to the caller. The trainer puts that sequence on a bench, so students can place calls between the extensions, listen to each tone the exchange generates and relate what they hear to the signals on the board.
It is used for telephony and switching practicals in the electronics and communication labs of polytechnics, engineering colleges and ITI/TVET institutes. The opto-isolated line section keeps the line circuits electrically separate from the control electronics.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of exchange trainers needed for your telecommunication lab.
- Your experiment list or tender specification — so the quotation can be checked against the lines, tones and fault switches in the table above.
- Other telecommunication trainers — the telephone, GSM and satellite trainers linked below are separate items and can be quoted on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the trainer come with telephones?
Yes. Four telephone sets are part of the specification.
What does a fully non-blocking speech path mean?
Every extension can be connected at the same moment without a call being refused for lack of a free switching path.
How are faults studied on the trainer?
The board carries switch faults that change the behaviour of the circuit, and 46 test points where students take readings to see what each fault affects and where it lies.
What mains supply does it need?
Input power is 230 V AC at 50 Hz. The +5 V, +11 V, +15 V and +23 V supplies are on the board.
What should an export enquiry include?
Give the quantity, the destination country and port or city, your preferred delivery terms such as FOB or CIF, any packing or labelling instructions, and the tender reference where one applies.
Who manufactures the Telephone Exchange Trainer?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — builds it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and handles enquiries for it as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of electronics and telecommunication trainers alongside a wider laboratory equipment range, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The exchange trainer is built at JLab’s own works rather than sourced from a trader, so colleges, training institutes, dealers and importers buy it direct from the maker, which also looks after repeat orders and spare parts. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Malawi in East Africa, Australia in Oceania, Eswatini in Southern Africa, Romania in Eastern Europe and DR Congo in Central Africa. Tender buyers can refer to the JLab lab tenders page.
