Tilting Flume Apparatus

Product Code : EL-HLE-8985
Jlab Export is a leading Tilting Flume Apparatus Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Tilting Flume Apparatus (code EL-HLE-8985) is a 76 mm wide, 250 mm high open channel with clear acrylic sides, whose bed slope is set by a jacking system anywhere from −1% to +3%. Flow is read on a shunt orifice flowmeter and checked in a 40-litre volumetric tank, and water levels on a vernier level and two gauges reading to 0.1 mm. JLab makes this tilting flume in Ambala, India.

Setting the Channel Slope

The jacking system tilts the channel to change the bed slope. At a positive slope the bed falls in the direction of flow, at 0% it is level, and at a negative slope down to −1% it rises against the flow, giving an adverse slope. For the same discharge, a steeper bed carries a shallower, faster stream, so running one flow rate at several slopes shows how depth and velocity respond to the gradient.

Reading Depth and Discharge

The 150 mm vernier level and the two 300 mm gauges read the water surface in the working section, which the clear acrylic sides keep in view. The shunt orifice flowmeter covers 0.5 to 2.5 litres/sec, and the same discharge can be checked by timing the fill of a known volume in the 40-litre GRP tank. Mean velocity is the discharge divided by the flow area, 76 mm times the measured depth.
