Axial Flow Pump Test Rig

Product Code : EL-HLE-8982
Jlab Export is a leading Axial Flow Pump Test Rig Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Axial Flow Pump Test Rig (code EL-HLE-8982) is a pump test bench in which an axial flow pump, driven by a 3 HP three-phase motor, delivers about 150 LPM around its own water circuit. A pressure gauge, a measuring tank and an energy meter give the head, discharge and electrical input needed for performance tests. JLab builds this axial pump rig in Ambala, India.

Why an Axial Flow Pump Gives High Flow at Low Head

The impeller of an axial flow pump works like a propeller inside a pipe: its blades push the water along the line of the shaft instead of throwing it outwards, as a centrifugal impeller does. The result is a large discharge at a low head, so axial pumps are the usual choice where big volumes have to be lifted a short height. The power an axial pump takes is highest at low flow, so during a test the gate valve is closed down in steps and never shut completely.

Reading Head, Discharge and Input Power

At each setting of the gate valve, the pressure gauge gives the delivery head, the rise of water in the measuring tank over a timed interval gives the discharge Q, and the energy meter on the panel gives the electrical input. The hydraulic output is ρgQH, and dividing it by the input gives the overall efficiency of the pump set. On the characteristic curves of an axial pump, head and input power both fall steeply as the flow rises, while efficiency climbs to a peak and drops again.
