Reciprocating Pump Test Rig

Product Code : EL-HLE-8984
Jlab Export is a leading Reciprocating Pump Test Rig Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Reciprocating Pump Test Rig (code EL-HLE-8984) is a test set-up built around a double-acting reciprocating pump, size 25 x 20 mm, that delivers about 20 LPM at 20 m total head. A 1 HP, 1400 rpm single-phase motor turns the crank, and an air vessel on the pump evens out the flow. JLab manufactures this reciprocating pump rig in Ambala, India.

How the Crank Drives a Double-Acting Pump

The motor turns the crank, and the connecting rod changes that rotation into the to-and-fro stroke of the piston in its close-fitting cylinder. Because the pump is double acting, both faces of the piston work: while one side draws water in, the other side pushes water out, so water is delivered on every stroke. The air vessel holds a cushion of air that absorbs the pulses from the piston, giving a steadier delivery and reducing the acceleration head the pipework has to overcome.

Working Out Slip and Coefficient of Discharge

A reciprocating pump displaces a fixed volume per revolution, so its theoretical discharge is Qth = (2A − a)LN for a double-acting pump, where A is the piston area, a the piston-rod area, L the stroke and N the speed in revolutions per second. The measured discharge Qact comes out a little lower because of leakage and delayed valve closing. The coefficient of discharge is Cd = Qact/Qth, and the slip is (Qth − Qact)/Qth, usually given as a percentage.
