What Is the Monocot Leaf T.S. Chart Used For?
A monocot leaf is usually isobilateral: both surfaces receive about the same light, stomata occur in both the upper and the lower epidermis, and the mesophyll is not divided into palisade and spongy layers. The parallel veins appear in the section as a row of vascular bundles of fairly similar size, each surrounded by a bundle sheath. In grasses, some upper epidermal cells along the veins are large, empty, colourless bulliform cells; when they lose water the leaf curls inwards, cutting down water loss. Grasses such as maize also show Kranz anatomy, with large, chloroplast-rich bundle sheath cells, which links this section to the class 11 chapter on photosynthesis as well as to plant anatomy.
Use the chart with a slide or a fresh hand section of a grass leaf, and put a dicot leaf section beside it to show the differences. The laminated surface can be wiped down, and the plastic rollers let it be stored rolled up.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is an isobilateral leaf?
A leaf whose two surfaces are alike in structure because both receive about equal light. It has stomata on both surfaces and undivided mesophyll, and it is typical of grasses and many other monocots.
What do bulliform cells do?
Bulliform cells are large, thin-walled cells in the upper epidermis of grass leaves. When water is short they lose turgor and the leaf rolls or folds inwards, which reduces the exposed surface and water loss; when they fill again the leaf opens out.
How is a monocot leaf section different from a dicot leaf section?
A dicot leaf is usually dorsiventral, with palisade cells under the upper epidermis, spongy mesophyll below, more stomata on the lower surface and a network of veins of different sizes. A monocot leaf has no palisade layer, stomata on both surfaces and parallel veins of similar size.
How big is the chart, and what is it made of?
It measures 58 x 90 cm (about 22.8 x 35.4 in) and is printed in full colour on art paper, laminated on both sides with thick plastic film, with plastic rollers.
What is the minimum order quantity and dispatch time?
At least 10 units. JLab inspects each chart visually before packing and usually dispatches within 7–10 working days; export transit time is added on top.
Who makes the T.S Leaf - Monocot Chart?
The chart is manufactured by JLab (Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd) at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and sold by JLab directly.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a maker of laboratory equipment and printed biology charts in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. JLab produces this chart at its own works rather than buying it from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers get factory-direct supply; each chart is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to every region — for example El Salvador in Central America and the Caribbean, Ireland in Western Europe, Papua New Guinea in Oceania, the USA in North America and Botswana in Southern Africa. Tender procedures are covered on the JLab lab tenders page.
