What Is the Zener Voltage Stabilization Apparatus Used For?
A zener diode operated in reverse breakdown keeps an almost constant voltage across itself over a wide range of current, which makes it the simplest voltage regulator. With a resistance in series and a load across the diode, the output stays close to the zener voltage while the input voltage or the load changes. The apparatus is used to measure how well it does both — line regulation as the input is varied, and load regulation as the load is changed.
