Product Code : EL-SOM-1150
Jlab Export is a leading Astable Multivibrator using IC 555 Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
Astable Multivibrator using IC 555 (code EL-SOM-1150) is a trainer designed to study the wave shape and frequency produced by a 555 timer working as a free-running astable multivibrator. The IC 555 and a range of resistors and capacitors sit inside the cabinet with their connections brought out to sockets, powered by a 5 V DC regulated supply. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

How Does It Compare with Other JLab Multivibrator Trainers?
| Trainer | Circuit | Details given in its listing |
|---|---|---|
| This trainer (EL-SOM-1150) | IC 555 astable | 5 V DC regulated supply; IC 555, resistors and capacitors inside the cabinet, connections at sockets |
| Astable Multivibrator using Transistors | Transistor astable | Cross-coupled transistor network giving a sharp, continuous square wave without external triggering |
| Monostable Multivibrator using IC 555 | IC 555 monostable | In-built power supply; set of patch cords; user’s manual |
| Bistable Multivibrator using IC 555 | IC 555 bistable | 5 V DC regulated supply on sockets; two push-to-ON trigger switches, active low and active high |
Pick this model for the 555 astable on its own; the monostable and bistable trainers complete the set of 555 modes.
What Is the IC 555 Astable Trainer Used For?
An astable multivibrator has no stable state, so it oscillates without any trigger. In the 555 circuit the timing capacitor charges through two resistors and discharges through one of them, its voltage swinging between one-third and two-thirds of the supply; the output is high while the capacitor charges and low while it discharges, giving a rectangular wave. Because the charging path includes both resistors, the high time is longer than the low time in this basic circuit. Students connect different resistor and capacitor combinations at the sockets, view the output and the capacitor voltage on an oscilloscope, and check how the frequency falls as R or C is increased — a core 555 timer practical in B.Sc. electronics, diploma and ITI/TVET courses.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — 10 trainers minimum.
- Any other multivibrator trainers (monostable, bistable or transistor types) for the same lab.
- An oscilloscope, if it should be quoted with the order.
Frequently Asked Questions
What waveform does the 555 astable produce?
A continuous rectangular wave at the output, while the timing capacitor shows a rising and falling charge curve between one-third and two-thirds of the supply.
How is the frequency changed on this trainer?
By choosing different resistor and capacitor combinations at the sockets; larger values give a lower frequency. The listing does not give the component values, so ask JLab if your practical needs specific ones.
Why choose the IC 555 version over the transistor astable?
It introduces the 555 timer IC itself, while the transistor version shows two cross-coupled transistors switching each other; many labs order both.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, an Indian manufacturer of teaching-lab electronics and science equipment, incorporated in 2017 and operating from Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The astable trainer is assembled in JLab’s own works instead of being sourced from a trader, giving colleges, dealers and importers a factory-direct supply line for repeat orders and spares. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Libya in North Africa, Botswana in Southern Africa, the Philippines in Southeast Asia, Madagascar in East Africa and Chile in South America. Tender buyers can refer to the JLab lab tenders page.
