How Does It Compare with Other JLab Digital Modulation Trainers?
| Model | Schemes covered | Other details |
|---|---|---|
| This transmitter (EL-DSO-10338) | Line-code formats plus ASK, FSK, PSK, DPSK and QPSK carrier modulation | Two-channel TDM data input; synchronised on-board carriers |
| Amplitude Shift Key Modulation and Demodulation | ASK generation and demodulation | Own carrier signal generator and clock generator |
| Frequency Shift Keying Modulation and Demodulation | FSK generation and demodulation | Built-in IC-regulated supplies |
| Phase Shift Keying Modulation and Demodulation | PSK generation and demodulation | Terminals for connections and waveform observation |
| Differential Phase Shift Keying Modulation and Demodulation | DPSK generation and demodulation | Separate ICs for carrier, bit clock and data generation |
Choose this transmitter to generate and compare all five carrier modulation schemes, and the line-code formats, from one data source on one panel. Each single-scheme board pairs one modulator with its own demodulator.
What Is the Data Formatting and Carrier Modulation Transmitter Used For?
Before digital data is sent it is put into a line code and then, for a radio or band-pass channel, placed on a carrier. In NRZ-L the level stays fixed for each bit, NRZ-M changes level for every one, RZ returns to zero inside each bit, AMI sends successive ones with alternating polarity, and the biphase codes put a transition in every bit so the receiver can recover the clock. Carrier keying then varies the amplitude (ASK), frequency (FSK) or phase (PSK) of a sine wave; DPSK carries each bit as a change of phase from the previous one, and QPSK sends two bits per symbol on two carriers 90° apart — the board provides 960 kHz carriers at 0° and 90° phase. Students view each format and modulated waveform at the test points and compare the techniques, in digital communication practicals for diploma and engineering courses.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of transmitters for your communication lab.
- Single-scheme boards — any of the ASK, FSK, PSK or DPSK trainers compared above, as separate items on the same quotation.
- Bench instruments — oscilloscopes are separate catalogue items and can be quoted on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
Which data formats can it produce?
NRZ (L), NRZ (M), RZ, AMI, RB, Biphase (Manchester), Biphase (Mark) and differentially encoded dibit pairs, converted from NRZ data.
Which carriers are on the board?
Sine-wave carriers synchronised to the transmitted data at 1.44 MHz and at 960 kHz in two phases, 0° and 90°.
What is supplied with it?
A power cord, patch cords and an instruction manual.
What mains supply does it need, and how big is it?
It runs on 220 V AC +10% at 50 Hz, measures 430 x 230 x 90 mm and weighs about 2.5 kg.
What should an export enquiry include?
Give the quantity, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you want (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling requirements, and a tender reference if there is one.
Who manufactures this transmitter?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, trading as JLab, makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, and quotes for it directly.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a communication and electronics trainer manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. The transmitter is built at JLab’s own works and not sourced from a trader, so engineering colleges, polytechnics, dealers and importers buy from the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Germany in Western Europe, Paraguay in South America, Barbados in Central America and the Caribbean, Chad in Central Africa and Botswana in Southern Africa. The JLab lab tenders page has tender information.
