Jlab Export is a leading DSB and SSB-SC Amplitude Modulation and Demodulation Trainer Manufacturer, and suppliers in India
DSB and SSB-SC Amplitude Modulation and Demodulation Trainer (code EL-CT-1495) is a communication lab training kit for amplitude modulation as practised in analog communication systems. Conventional AM, double-sideband suppressed-carrier (DSB-SC) and single-sideband suppressed-carrier (SSB-SC) signals are generated and demodulated on a single printed circuit board. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the DSB and SSB-SC AM Trainer Used For?
In amplitude modulation the amplitude of a high-frequency carrier follows the audio signal. Conventional AM sends the carrier with both sidebands; DSB-SC suppresses the carrier and keeps both sidebands; SSB-SC keeps only one sideband, so it needs half the bandwidth of a double-sideband signal and spends no power on the carrier. An envelope detector is enough to recover conventional AM, but a suppressed-carrier signal has to be multiplied by a locally generated carrier in a product detector. The trainer puts these three forms side by side, so the waveforms behind the textbook theory can be followed stage by stage on an oscilloscope.
It is built for analog communication practicals in electronics and communication engineering courses, and the operating instructions give the object, theory, design procedure, report suggestions and book references.
What to Specify When Ordering
- Quantity — the number of trainers for your communication lab.
- Mains supply — the trainer works on 230 V AC, 50 Hz; confirm that this matches the supply in your laboratory.
- Companion trainers — the FM, pulse code modulation and AM panel trainers linked below are separate items and can go on the same enquiry.
Frequently Asked Questions
What signal ranges do the built-in generators cover?
The AF modulating generator gives a sine wave from 300 Hz to 3.4 kHz at up to 5 Vpp, the RF carrier oscillator runs from 100 kHz to 1 MHz at up to 10 Vpp, and the local oscillator covers 400 kHz to 500 kHz. The 300 Hz to 3.4 kHz span is the band conventionally used for telephone-quality speech.
Can students modulate their own voice or an external signal?
Yes. The dynamic microphone feeds an input audio amplifier, which also accepts an external signal from a mike or tape recorder, and after demodulation the output audio amplifier, with its volume control, drives the boxed loudspeaker.
What is the variable DC source for?
It provides a DC input, variable from −5 to +5 V, so that its effect on the AM output can be observed. In a balanced modulator a DC level on the modulating input lets some carrier through to the output, so changing it alters the carrier level and the depth of modulation.
What else is needed to run the experiments?
A 20 MHz cathode ray oscilloscope for observing the waveforms. It is a separate item; JLab’s Dual Trace Oscilloscope, linked below, can be quoted on the same enquiry.
How does it differ from the Frequency Modulation and Demodulation Trainer?
Both are built on a single 300 x 400 mm PCB. This trainer covers AM, DSB-SC and SSB-SC; the FM trainer covers varactor and reactance frequency modulators with detuned resonant, quadrature, Foster-Seeley, ratio and phase locked loop detectors.
What information is needed for an export quotation?
Please send the number of trainers, the destination country and port or city, the delivery terms you prefer (for example FOB or CIF), any packing or labelling requirements, and the tender reference if the purchase is for a tender.
Who manufactures this trainer?
Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India, and supplies it directly as the manufacturer.
OEM Manufacturer
JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a manufacturer of communication and electronics trainers and other educational laboratory equipment in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This AM trainer is assembled in JLab’s own works rather than bought from a trader, so institutions, dealers and importers buy it factory-direct, and repeat orders and spares come from the same source. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example Germany in Western Europe, Morocco in North Africa, Guinea in West Africa, Guyana in South America and Belize in Central America and the Caribbean. Tender details are on the JLab lab tenders page.
