What Is the Emitter Follower CC Board Used For?
In an emitter follower the output is taken from the transistor’s emitter, so it follows the input signal with a voltage gain just under one while presenting a high input impedance and a low output impedance. That combination makes it the usual buffer stage between a high-impedance source and a low-impedance load, and measuring the three quantities is a regular practical in diploma, BSc and engineering analog electronics labs. The test signal comes from the external audio frequency generator and the AF millivoltmeter reads the signal levels.

Why is the voltage gain of an emitter follower below one?
The output is taken across the emitter load, and a small part of the input signal is always dropped across the base–emitter junction, so the emitter voltage tracks the base voltage closely but slightly below it. The stage gives current gain and power gain rather than voltage gain.
