Measurement of Peak, Average and RMS Value of an AC Signal

Product Code : EL-VOVLACOS-1101
Jlab Export is a leading Measurement of Peak, Average and RMS Value of an AC Signal Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Measurement of Peak, Average and RMS Value of an AC Signal (code EL-VOVLACOS-1101) is a bench apparatus for finding the peak, average and RMS values of an alternating signal in physics and electrical labs. It combines a sine wave generator and a step-down transformer with a printed circuit diagram for peak and average value measurement, and all connections are brought out on terminals. It is made by Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Peak, Average and RMS Value Apparatus Used For?

An alternating voltage has no single value, so students learn three: the peak (the highest point of the wave), the average over a half cycle, and the RMS (root mean square) value, which is the DC value that would produce the same heating in a resistor. For a pure sine wave, RMS equals the peak divided by √2 and the half-cycle average is 2/π times the peak — relations taught in the alternating current chapter of senior-secondary physics and in first-year electrical courses. With this apparatus the class measures real values from the sine wave generator and transformer and checks them against these formulas, which makes it useful physics practical equipment for CBSE and state-board schools, B.Sc. physics, and diploma and ITI electrical labs.

A peak-reading circuit typically lets a capacitor charge through a diode to the top of the wave, while an average reading comes from rectifying the signal and smoothing it; the printed diagram shows the arrangement used on this board. Connect a multimeter or oscilloscope at the terminals to take readings.

What to Specify When Ordering

  • Quantity — the minimum order is 10 units; one apparatus per student group is common.
  • Measuring instruments — a multimeter or oscilloscope is not part of this listing and can be added to the same enquiry.
  • Related experiments — rectifier or clipping and clamping apparatus from the same range can be quoted together.

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the RMS value obtained on this apparatus?
The printed circuit covers peak and average value measurement; for a sine wave the RMS value follows from the measured peak (peak divided by √2), and a true-RMS or AC meter reading can be used to check it. Ask JLab to confirm the RMS method if your syllabus needs a separate RMS circuit.

Are meters included?
The listing names the sine wave generator, step-down transformer, printed circuit diagram and terminals, but no meter. Plan a multimeter or oscilloscope for readings, or ask JLab to quote one with the apparatus.

What is the size of the apparatus?
It measures 10 x 8 x 4 inches (about 25 x 20 x 10 cm), compact enough for a student bench.

Who manufactures this apparatus?
JLab — Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd — makes it at its works in Ambala, Haryana, India.

OEM Manufacturer

JLab is the trading name of Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd, a physics and electronics lab apparatus manufacturer in India, incorporated in 2017 and based on Hargolal Road, Ambala, Haryana. This apparatus is built at JLab’s own works and not bought from a trader, so schools, colleges, dealers and importers buy it direct from the maker; each unit is visually inspected before dispatch, and repeat orders are handled by the manufacturer. JLab exports worldwide and ships to buyers in every region — for example South Korea in East Asia, Kazakhstan in Central Asia, the UK in Western Europe, Sudan in North Africa and Ivory Coast in West Africa. For tender supply, see the JLab lab tenders page.
