Product Code : EL-BE-6221
Jlab Export is a leading Structure and Replication of Herpes Virus Model Manufacturer, and suppliers in India

Structure and Replication of Herpes Virus Model (code EL-BE-6221) is a virology teaching model on how a herpesvirus particle is built and how it multiplies in a host cell. Herpesviruses are large enveloped DNA viruses that cause cold sores, chickenpox and shingles and can stay in the body for life. The model suits college microbiology, medical, dental and nursing teaching. Jain Laboratory Instruments Pvt Ltd (JLab) makes it at its works in Ambala, India.

What Is the Herpes Virus Model Used For?

From the inside out, a herpesvirus particle has a core of linear double-stranded DNA, an icosahedral capsid, a protein-rich layer called the tegument and an outer lipid envelope studded with glycoprotein spikes. The family includes the herpes simplex viruses (cold sores and genital herpes), varicella-zoster virus (chickenpox and shingles), cytomegalovirus and Epstein–Barr virus (glandular fever).

To infect a cell, envelope glycoproteins bind receptors and the envelope fuses with the cell membrane. The released capsid travels to a nuclear pore and delivers its DNA into the nucleus, where genes are switched on in three waves — immediate-early, early and late — with a viral DNA polymerase copying the genome before the capsid proteins are made. New capsids are assembled in the nucleus and gain their envelope from cell membranes on the way out. Infected cells may fuse into multinucleated giant cells and show intranuclear inclusion bodies. Above all, herpesviruses can become latent: herpes simplex and varicella-zoster viruses remain in sensory nerve ganglia and can reactivate later as recurrent cold sores or shingles.

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the herpes virus model show?
The structure and replication of the herpes virus, as its title states. Which herpesvirus is shown and the parts, labels, size and material are not listed, so ask JLab for a description and photo.

What is the tegument?
The layer of proteins between the capsid and the envelope. After entry, some tegument proteins help switch on viral genes and shut down the host cell’s own protein synthesis.

How does it differ from the Herpes Simplex Virus Model?
That model presents the layered build of herpes simplex virus, while this one’s title adds the replication cycle. Ask JLab what each shows before ordering both.
